Bottle shared with JMD at HNB 17.01.17. Very dark brown. Pale brown head and lacing. Inviting aroma of dark chocolate and vanilla. Fine taste of dark malts, chocolate, vanilla and pine, balanced by moderate bitterness. Slightly waterish.

Flaske fra Gulating Stavanger, delt med Ovesen under koking av vår kaffestout: brunsvart med flott beige skum som varer. Deilig aroma og smak med sjokolade, vanilje, kaffe og mørk malt. Passe tørr, og med delikat bitterhet i ettersmaken. Hint av lakris? Gjester absolutt til tranfigelse.

Bottle. A dark chestnut hued brown beer with a dense, finger-thick beige head leaving lacing. Rather roasted aroma, with a pleasant coffee grit touch, some dark chocolate and some licorice and dark malts. Sort of grainy flavor, still the roasted malts dominating, with dark chocolate and coffee grit. Slightly burnt toast, some licorice and a vague prune hint. Even some bonfire. I wouldn’t mind more body, but considering the ABV it isn’t bad at all. Smooth and semi-dry, nicely carbonated. Roasted finish with chocolate and coffee. A quite pleasant porter, easy drinkable too. Sure one of the best from this brewery so far. 161222

Flaske 330ml fra Gulating, Larvik. Drukket i Stavern 21 Okt 16. Ultramørk amber / svart. Høyt, lett farget skum. Stabilt. Pen kniplingslacing. God aroma av kaffe & lakris. Smaken litt tynn. Kaffepreget beholdes med innslag av sjokolade.

330 ml bottle. Clear dark brown, close to black body with a fine beige head. Aroma has dark malt, coffee and chocolate. Flavor is medium sweet, medium roasted dark malt, caramel, hint of coffee and dark chocolate, moderate bitterness. Medium body and OK aftertaste. Decent porter, rather try to style and no faults. Easy to drink and actually quite enjoyable, on the other hand not particular complex or challenging, just another “new kid in the block” – but sometimes that what you want but then the price matters.

Black color with a fine beige head. Decent intensity in the aroma. Medium body and fine carbonation. Tad sweet and moderate bitterness. Coffee, some wort, herbal and roasted flavor.

330 ml bottle, from the brewery. ABV is 4.7%. Very dark brown colour, nearly black. Large beige head. Aroma of roast malts and mild coffee. Medium dry flavour, fortunately not bone dry, like so many other modern porters. Notes of roast malts, coffee and dark chocolate. A slight fruity acidity in the finish. A bit watery, but what can you expect with the Norwegian 4.75% "grocery store limit" for beers? This is still a drinkable porter.

On tap @ Una. Looks nice with a foamy dense beige lacing head over a darker brown colored and cloudy body. Smells quite roasted and there's a good amount of both licorice and chocolate here. Salty licorice almost. Leather and hints of molasses. Not bad for a low abv beer. Doesn't taste all that bad either. Chocolate wrapper and nuts. It's thin oily in the mouth without being watery and about average on the prickling carbonation. A little papery after a while. Tones of cold coffee and burnt sugar in the tail.
