This bright, tropical, fruit-laden West Coast IPA is brewed with two-row barley, English crystal malt, and cutting edge American hops including Simcoe, Mosaic and El Dorado. Notes of mango, pineapple and strawberry culminate in a resinous, dank finish synonymous with the West Coast IPA style. Expatriate tastes like home no matter where you are.

Can from Vino Wines, Comiston. Hazy golden body with a medium white head. Lively carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of caramel and pine. Flavour of raw hops and grapefruit. Medium body with an oily texture. Light fizz. A solid IPA but Iβd hoped for better after my previous beer was the excellent Day Job.

Can. Pale gold with a white head. 3+Crackery aroma with lots of citrus - grapefruit and lemon - some tropical fruit. Fairly light bodied, slightly creamy. Moderate carbonation is just where I like it. Malt is firm, somewhere between crackers and bread and barely sweet. The hops have some tropical and pine touches but mainly around citrus. Fairly high bitterness. Nothing particularly unusual just very good.

Dank deep mangoes in the nose. Great mango character, fairly full body and malty. Modestly aggressive bitterness. Nice mango finish

12 oz can poured to a glass at Nicks in Manhattan Beach, California. The pour is clear golden orange with a small, well formed, white head. The aroma is orange tangerine fruit, floral, and a bit of resin grass towards the back. The taste is a nice balance of the bright hop notes of orange tangerine, grass, resin and fresh cracker malt. The palate is medium bodied active carbonation and clean resin fruit finish. Hit the spot.

When I first flew through LA a few years ago I wanted to hit Three Weavers while on a layover (at the time it was the closest brewery to the airport). I didn’t make it there but thankfully they’ve made it to Japan. Three Weavers Expatriate IPA 6.9% A clear gold with a thick fluffy head that leaves some soapy lacing on my IPA glass. The aroma is resinous but fruity hops. Medium to full bodied with a raspy carbonation and a dank bitter earthy hop character combined with a super-ripe fruity character. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can from Hasegawa Liquors, Tokyo Station. Drank from a plastic cup while on Narita Express. Pours quite clear golden, nice thick foam top. Nose is lightly fruity, some lupulin, tropical and you can feel some malty base there. Tastes decently hoppy, medium bodied and fruity, not too light and not heavy at all. Herbal bitter linger coming out when you wait a bit, dry. Drinks extremely well, really sessionable at 6.9%. Decent IPA, no gimmicks, just good.

Beaverfest. Day 1. Keg. Clear gold beer, small white head. Light and semi-dry palate. Thin but creamy sweet malts. Good piney hop and lightly resinous tropical fruits. Piney finish leaves a mild bitter linger. Pretty drinkable.
