A full-bodied beer with deep chocolate color, velvety malt texture, and a dark-roasted flavor, with hints of smokiness and coffee. It combines the dryness of traditional Dublin-style stout with the strength and character of Imperial Stout.

Bottle, 22oz. It pours a more or less black body, topped by a dense, light tan head that lasts and leaves lacings. The aroma is deliciously dark, with treacle, roasted malts, dark chocolate, coffee and some dried fruits. Some citrusy notes shines through as well. The flavor is equally good, sweet but not too sweet, the bitterness is balancing, and some alcohol warmth can be felt. Full body, and very soft carbonation. The finish stays for a good while, leaving your mouth covered with sweet, roasted maltyness. Glad I bought this one, it was certainly worth a visit. 130703

Refrigerated brown bomber poured into a English pint. Pours black with huge medium brown head (may be the darkest head I have seen). Thick body, excellent velvet texture, medium body, and slightly roasty/coffee aroma. Taste is roasty, bakers chocolate, salty, and really dry finish Definitely should be a dry stout and the best I have had.

7% shared by Mick at the World Beer Museum. Great Chocolate aroma and a nice black pour with a dark brown head. A wonderful creamy smooth mouthfeel, bitter with a lasting aftertaste. Quite nice.

Bottle sample at a tasting at the new Beer & Beyond shop. Thanks Naama. Black-colored with a light brown head. Nice roasty aroma with some coffee and light cocoa hints. Bittersweet roasty flavor with a long bitter finish with some hops and burnt wood notes. Medium to full-bodied.

Tap at Pike Pub & Brewery, Seattle - 09/11/12. Mid black with a thin coffee head that clears to the edges, forms a pond then retains well. Nose is roast malt, chocolate, molasses, touch of wood, tobacco. Taste is roast malts, chocolate, molasses, hops and a little smoke. Full end of medium bodied, light prickly carbonation - a tad too much for this style, sweet roasty finish.

Draught @ Pike Brewery, Seattle
My 2000th rating!
Aroma is typical to an English stout with roastiness, some coffee, English hops and hints of vanilla. Flavour has toffee and English hops. Finishes dry with roasted malt, licorice and coffee. Flawless and good.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours pitch black color with an impressive 2 finger dense tan head with great retention, that reduces to a thick cap that lasts. Some nice thick soapy lacing clings to the glass. Aromas of big dark chocolate, black coffee, roasted malt, pine, toasted biscuit, herbal, citrus rind, and earthy hops. Very nice and well balanced aromas with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, espresso, pine, grapefruit, roasted malt, toast, herbal, char, and earthy hops. Good sized roasted coffee bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, espresso, pine, charred malt, and herbal on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance of roasted and hoppy flavors. Medium carbonation and body; with a nice creamy and fairly slick mouthfeel. Alcohol is well hidden with only a warming noticed after the finish. Quite smooth to drink, but is still a bit of a sipper. Overall this is a really excellent export stout! Great flavor balance with hoppiness; and quite smooth to sip on, with big robust flavors.
