At Half Pints, we live by our motto: small brewery, BIG FLAVOR. Nothing proves this more than when we brew this extra strong ale. It is packed with five different malts for a strong dried fruit character and is hopped with UK Fuggles and Goldings for a woody, herbal aroma. This Barleywine is meant to be shared fireside with friends. Try it with a cheese plate of sharp Cheddar, Stilton, and Gorgonzola or a slice of rum soaked fruit cake. It will continue to improve with careful aging in a cool dark place, so try to save a bottle to compare with the new vintage. Serve at 12 degrees celcius in a brandy snifter. Unfiltered and unpasteurized.

341ml bottle. 2010 vintage. Pours a murky red-brown with a small, creamy, short lived, beige head that leaves spotty lacing. Sweet aroma of bready caramel malt, raisin, plum, toffee and booze. Sweet flavour of bready caramel malt, toffee, brown sugar, raisin, plum, fig, honey and light spice in a dry, warming booze finish. Full body with a creamy, smooth, oily texture and soft carbonation. Well, 10 yrs of aging hasn't hurt this beer at all. If anything it has mellowed out. Very tasty.

Thank you for sharing tderoeck! 650 ml. bottle sampled @ RBBSG17. 2014 Vintage. Dark amber, little head. Nose is thick herbal sludge, bitter malt syrup, caramel. Surprisingly bitter herbal, thick bitter herbs, malt syrup, caramel, sludge. Nice lingering thick bitterness. Crude & far more bitter than expected especially with age but a very neat USA style bitter Barleywine.

0.341l waxed twist-off cap from 2008 shared with The Tasting Crew and our Kristiansandsfriends. The first twist-off cap I've ever seen waxed ... Looks nice also. Deep blurry ruby almost with a small kinda islands and sidesticking off-white head. Sweetish caramel and malty nose. There's raisins tones, burned raisins with oxidized traces in the back. Old bottle, but it works. Slightly burned in a way. Burned red fruits. Some alco warmth tailing this. Pleasant. 16.06.2014

Bottle. 2008 vintage. It’s an unclear, dark golden beer with a minimal sized off-white head. The aroma is lightly oxidised, with caramel malts, tending towards toffee. Lots of pine cones, some fluor and resins, some meaty hints. It’s full-bodied, lightly carbonated and warming, with a soft carbonation. Meaty, bitter and sweet flavor with pine cones and resins. Lasting finish. This one’s been holding up very good, sure a beer I’d like to have again. 140616
