Draught from tbd. Nutty yeasty aroma. Thin feel. Similar taste. Meh. Nothing too special.

Location: Draft at Living Social Beerfest, 12/6/2013

Aroma:The aroma is mid-sweet with some fruity notes and some somewhat off malty notes
Appearance: It pours an amberish color with a small off-white head on it
Flavor: The taste leans way to the off side, this one just didn't quite work for me
Palate: The body of this one is light-medium, with an okay mouthfeel
Overall Impression: For me, this was not a very good beer at all. It isn't really that I was expecting much, but somehow this one still didn't meet my expectations. Really, just not good at all.

Refrigerated bottle poured into shaker. Pours clear amber with half finger that dissapates quickly. Some lacing, medium body, medium carbonation, and caramel malt aroma. Taste is toasted malt and grassy hop finish. Not a fan.

Clear light golden coloured body with a thin white head. Aroma of pungent malt, a touch of lemons and not much else. Light-bodied; Strong cardboardie malt flavours with a bit of metal and some light sugars. Stronger pungent malt follows with a little sweetness and a very minor hop taste. Overall, a pretty weak beer, but that’s expected based on where it’s coming from. Definitely worth passing up, but only worth sampling when someone hands you one for free. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle pulled from a Winter 12 pack purchased here in Virginia.

Bottle. Clear dark amber colour. Very small tan head. Clean flavour, semi-dark malts. OK balanced by the alcohol.

Bottle. Pours a nice amber-brown with a medium, off-white head. Nose is heavy on the malts. More malty sweetness in the flavor, with caramel, light brown sugar and toffee. Faint hops of the earthy variety. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Sweet, semi-sticky finish. Not bad overall.

12oz bottle. Filtered chestnut brown-amber color. Frothy off-white head. Sweet medium-dark malt aroma. Rich caramel malt tones, with a drinkable very-Saranac body. Lacks much depth, seems like it’s missing some pieces. Solid enjoyable sugary sweet malt tones, and a touch of soapy bitterness. Despite these qualities, it’s still watery and bland, and a tad too sugary for it’s own good. A beer Saranac should nail, and only pull off half-heartedly. Good for a tick, not much else.

Its not impressive but for some reason I like it. Its far from a good Vienna, its dark enough but not much else. The beer has a bit of a skunkiness to it, the malts are very clean but no perception of caramel or light sweetness that I want from my Viennas. There is a bit of the house lager mineral character. Its not the worst beer Saranac ever made.
12oz bottle out of the winter mix pack, small lambic tumbler glass.

From the Winter variety 12 pack: Walnut and sweet roasted malt nose, remiscent of maple syrup, but only a little bit. Clear brown, no head. Soapy mouthfeel. Sweet malt flavor, but not cloying. A little tinny. Uninspired for the most part.

Bottle. Pours a lovely deep amber/copper color with a thin but dense head. Aromas are a mix of grain dust, a bit of apple juice concentrate and caramel. Flavor is pretty grain dominant with a bit of an apple like fruitiness that comes and goes. This is fairly sweet with a fruity finish.
