THE ALE: This smooth ale tastes citrusy with yeasty notes and a hint of peppery spice. Its dry finish and mild carbonation make it perfect for pairing with grilled chicken, rich fish dishes, and cheeses like camembert and brie.

THE STORY: Philosophizer was a common term used to describe Del. He often came up with the perfect solution to a complex problem while drinking a beer and watching the sunset. Don’t be surprised when you enter into deep philosophical debates after opening a Philosophizer. Just pop one open, pour, sip, and ponder.

Damn I found this to be delicious, slight dry rusticness, Brett hints on point, delish.

Nice spicy saison. A little too chilly for it today, but a well done beer. Thanks Roo!

Split a 750ml bottle. Poured a dark yellow color with a fluffy white head. Aroma was spices, lots of citrus, light pepper notes. Light white pepper, citrus, light toasted malt notes. Pretty tasty.

750 c&c from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours hazy gold with a large frothy white head. Aroma is spicy, grassy, citrus, earthy. Tickles the nostrils. Med body or better. Hits like a tripel, but ... Hmm.... It’s a spicy, earthy tripel sort of thing. It’s Belgian allover. I’m not sure this fits the alleged style, but it’s very tasty stuff. Finishing like Grains of Paradise. And a sort of apple fruit ester. This is very unusual? Good tho!

Bottle. Pours a clear gold with a fluffy white head that lasts throughout the beer. Aroma has notes of grass and sweet grains with a bit of light fruit underlying. Flavor is more sweet grains and sweet light fruit with some belgian spice and a hint of grass.

I actually forgot where this one came from as my Texas trip was just going from beer store to beer store. Anyway, it pours slightly hazy golden with a white head. Aroma is slight saison funk, dry hops, some herbalness. Taste is similar. Slightly bitter and sufficiently hopped saison with citrus and spice notes. While I don’t think that it is anything that special, I think that the rating it has here is somewhat too low.

Location: Draft at The Queen Vic, 9/10/13

Aroma: The nose of this one is yeast and a little spicy, pepper, some fruit, and mild alcohol
Appearance: The pour is orange with a decent head and some nice lace as well
Flavor: The flavor is much the same, yeast, spice, and fruit, not all that sweet, but a solid flavor
Palate: The feel of this one is solid, but not great, there's a little heat, and some plus carbonation
Overall Impression: Wow, this one has a much lower score than I would have guessed. I thought this was a pretty tasty Saison. I guess I'll be one of its higher raters.
