This limited availability edition had 4,5 months lagering on oak armagnac barrels. Not coincidentally Armagnac barrels. Armagnac is a distillate of grapes that arises from a single distillation process. Because of this, it has a wider and fruitier aroma, just like I want NONNIVERSAIRE to pronounce itself!

An excellent and unique digestive beer, perfect for sharing!
100% pure craft: unfiltered, unpasteurized, no trickery, nothing artificial.

At Ghent Beer Society's Beer Quiz; shared with Anke & Pieter!
Hazy brown with a small, foamy, tan head. Aroma of raisins, candied fruits, sugar, vanilla, caramel and liquor. It tastes medium to heavy sugary sweet and light fruity sour; some touches of vanilla and wood. Sweetish, slightly dry, alcoholic finish. Medium to full body, slick/sticky texture, soft carbonation. Punch of sweetness here, so a great dessert beer.

Another barrel aged variant on this interesting Nonniversaire theme, aimed at more educated gastronomy - something a well-made barleywine should easily be able to pull off. At Gents Bierfestival. Loosely structured, irregular, yellowish beige, fairly stable head over a more or less clear, very purely copper coloured beer, with warm bronze-ish hue. Rich bouquet of candied cherries, honey, armagnac, sweet sherry, banana liqueur, cranberry sauce, candi sugar, caramel sauce, sweet white grapes, dessert wine. Very sweet flavour, candied cherries and bananas drenched in melting candi sugar, sticky even, with only a thin, berry-like sourish line running through it; medium carbonation, actually a bit on the spritzy side for the style, thick and smooth, oily mouthfeel. Caramelly malt base, bit nutty, with this thick candied and honeyish sweetness on top, somewhat more dry in the finish thanks to tannins from the armagnac barrels; lots of warming, liqueurish rather than truly brandy-like alcohol in the end but the unfermented sugary sweetness remains firmly in place. Too sweet for my tooth even for an English style barleywine, but original and very well made, I can see this being successful served at cellar temperature in sherry glasses after a copious meal in some fine dining restaurant.

Thank you for sharing RB Crew! Sampled 500 ml. bottle @ GBF 2017. Dark brown amber with no head. Nose is pleasant thick sweet oxidized warming dark fruit sludge. Taste is lovely sugary dark fruity malt syrup, big nice oxidation with lingering warmth, sipping oxidized sludge, caramel, toffee, little carbonation, body is the same. Great stuff for those who like the concept.

Taste: soft acidity, lots of caramel, sugary, some chocolate, bit sour, alcohol, orange peel, little bitter, malty. Aftertaste: some sweet ripe banana, caramel, bit sugary, orange peel, alcohol, some peach candy, nice stuff!

Small, but stable yellow rim, over faintly hazy ruby-brown beer. Brandy and incense, sugarbread, dark candi sugar in the nose. Armagnac, red fruit, preserved fruit on brandy, again dark candi syrup and maple dito. Bit undercarbonated, but very viscous, voluptuous, alcoholheat, beautifully rounded finish. Very good one, sweet, but exactly in the right way. BTW, I really would love to see more Armagnac barrel aged beers - its an underestimated spirit.
