Radius is a saison that harks back to the days when farmhouse beers were session beers, full of flavor, but light enough that you could stick with them all day or all evening. At only 4.8% ABV, Radius is among the lightest beers we’ve ever made, but it’s packed with flavor. Our Belgian yeast strain gives complex spicy notes and some bright orange zest flavors, while Perle and Aurora hops give a zippy bitterness and a pleasant floral aroma. Radius is bone-dry, unfiltered, hoppy, and refreshing, and doesn’t put the hard whammy on us after a glass or two (okay, it’s true - we’re sometimes in the mood for the hard whammy...but not always!).

Hazy orange color, firm white head. Fruity nose has something like overriped peach. Light-bodied, crisp carbonation. Weak palate. Belgian yeast, hops, peach, apricot and some spices. Beer for food.

Bottle poured by Mr Garret Oliver at Brooklyn Ghost Bottle night at Blue Ribbon. This was a super fun, 1 hour, free event with great beer and food so thanks brooklyn brewery. This was first beer they poured and it tastes of tropical fruit, black pepper, grass, cloves, grains and earth. It mildly bitter with lingering sweetness. Billed as a session beer I could see myself drinking quite a bit of this over an afternoon.

On tap at the brewery. Pours with a hazed golden body showing some voracious carbonation with a huge creamy white head. Aromas are spicy, phenol, grainy, peppery, earthy. Lots of grainy character (I’d guess wheat, but I guess it could just be pils malt). Flavors are very bready, grainy, malty. Yeast and/or hops show lots of peppery, earthy and spicy notes. Phenol, pepper, light clove. Hardly any real esters. Dry and sessionable with very lively carbonation. Also got treated to a mixed beer cocktail: Brooklyn Blast-Radius...not bad.

Location: Draft at the Brewery, 10/22/11
Aroma: This one has a wheaty nose, some yeast, hay, grass, tropical fruits, and light banana
Appearance: The one pours a cloudy golden color, with a lasting white head and lots of lace
Flavor: It also has a somewhat wheaty flavor, it is medium sweet, and lightly bitter
Palate: The body is fairly light, it is pretty clean, and fairly smooth on the mouth too
Overall Impression: This was another interesting offering from the Brooklyn Brewmasters series. I thought it was some pretty solid stuff.

On tap at The Diamond, Brooklyn. Pours a clear, vibrant gold with a foamy, white head. Light yeast and hay in the aroma. Light to medium sweet flavor, some grass and biscuits. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Great finish, nice sweet/bitter balance, super clean, some yeast, grass and dough. Very good stuff.
