Cold Front is our Belgian-style Amber Ale brewed in autumn to keep us inspired as the days grow shorter and the nights colder. It’s brewed with European Malts and hops and fermented with a legendary Belgian "Farmhouse" yeast. draft at Fat Head’s in N. Olmsted - Pours dark brown and smells of caramel malt and Belgian yeast. The flavor is really sweet caramel malt with maybe a hint of spice. It has a medium to full body and a bubbly palate. Pretty good.

Bottle. Pours a dark, amber-brown with a big, creamy beige head with substantial lacing. Wonderful Belgian aroma: Some funk, some dark fruits. Smells very promising. Unfortunately, I didn’t think the flavor matched that aroma. Just seems a little muddled. Some nice plum, fig and toffee, but the bitterness comes in a little too quickly before the sweetness has a chance to spread its wings. Medium body, average carbonation. Not bad, but definitely not all it could be.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very dark red-brown with a huge beige head. The aroma was sugar, candied fruits - pear, cherry and apricot - and undertones of caramel and molasses. Wonderfully rich, sweet and fruity on the nose. The flavor dropped of a bit with notes of sugar, tart candied fruits (pear, apricot and raspberry) and hints of molasses and port wine. There was trace caramel and nut underneath. Long complex finish. Somewhat full bodied. Alcohol well hidden. Well done.

Sample at 69 Taps in Akron. Pours a slightly murky dark reddish-brown color with a medium thin light beige head that recedes quickly. Spotty lacing. Aroma of yeast and caramel malt. Medium, smooth body with flavors of doughy malt, yeast and spices. Some fruity notes too. The finish is sweet malt and spices with a short fruity aftertaste. Just average overall.

Bottle. Translucent brown body with red highlights. Fizzy, large, light tan head, mostly diminishing. Malty aroma of caramel and toast on top of banana, light spice and light licorice. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet, lightly to moderately bitter and lightly tart. Medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. Turns slightly chalky in the finish. Starts sweet with fruity esters and then turns slightly vinegary in the taste along with some plastic notes. Tastes like a brown ale with Belgian yeast. Just OK.

Decent sweet beldjy aroma. Pour is rather nice, looks very appetizing with its dark brown color and rocky creamy tan head. Gunk on bottom of bottle. Certainly acheives the beldjy yeast effect. Some creaminess in the carbonation. Quite strong in personality, seems a little less refined than the better real guys. Finish is somewhat medicinal with the alky background and all. A euro experience from NY.

12 ounce bottle courtesy of j12601. Thanks! Pours a dark purplish brown color with a medium very creamy head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma is yeasty and citrusy with a bit of bread, spice and brown sugar. Taste is coffee, nuts, peppery spicy notes, clove, herbal hop notes. Medium bodied. A bit weird, but good.
