Folk Metal is an oatmeal stout and a Fall/Winter seasonal release. Brewed with copious quantity's of oatmeal and oat malt for a medium to full body. Flavors and aromas of French Roast coffee, grilled figs, and dark chocolate. This is one of the most straight forward beers we produce and it's downright delicious.

16 ounce can. Label reads 5.5% ABV. Opaque dark brown color. Small bubbly tan head. Sweet roasted malt aroma has notes of chocolate and licorice. Flavor upfront is roasted malt, chocolate and dark brown sugar. Medium bodied with a soft, creamy mouthfeel. Easy drinking. Spicy hops on backend. Wonderful balance. Very well made.

On tap at Worthy Kitchen Deep brown in color with a huge frothy tan head that slowly recedes. Thick rich caramel coffee and chocolate with some light earth and fruit to counter. Nice desert beer.

On tap at the brewery, pours a cola brown, tan head. Malty nose, toast, rye. Tootsie roll on the tongue, malt, caramel, some definite other grain like rye. Dry finish. Very very drinkable. 8 4 8 5 14

Tap at Arvads, Waterbury. Colour is dark brown with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Chocolate, dark chocolate, vanilla and roasted malts. Very nice porter.

On tap at Farmhouse Tap and Grill, Burlington, VT.
This was poured into a nonic pint glass.
The appearance was a black color with a bar pour’s kind of slim head that dissipated into oblivion, so obviously, yeah, there’s no lacing, not worried, it’s a bar pour.
The smell takes some roasty cocoa and blends with some roasty coffee beans. There’s light bitterness in the coffee bean as well.
The taste was moderately sweet with a mild roasty flavor trying to balance but rapidly dissipates. Grainy oatmeal is noted. There’s a light sweet to roasty aftertaste and finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium in body with a fairly nice sessionable feel about it. Carbonation runs fairly light with nice roasty to bitter feels clinging to my tongue.
Overall, I’d say this was a nice oatmeal stout that I’d have again.

Draft at Burlington Beer Company. No head sitting on top a black liquid. Delicate, light coffee, roasty and caramel malts. Seems really balanced with some mild coffee bitterness.
The flavor is about right; caramel, toffee, roasted malts, and light cocoa. Mouthfeel does show a mild smooth, creamy texture which I look for. Really drinkable and sessionable but the thinner body is the only negative. Maybe adding oats to pump up the body would help with a lot without changing the ABV much. Has potential.

Dark brown to black, half a finger espresso head. Roasty aroma, light bakers chocolate. a little coffee and fudge. Good creamy texture, a bit sweet, there’s licorice, some chocolate, quite woody but overall a thin body
