Can from explosivedog: pours dark brown clear with beige head. Aroma is dark fruits, dates/figs trype stuff, hints of chocolate and mollases. Taste is quite sweet with defined fruity notes. Alcohol superbly covered. Body is a bit sticky but still light.

Pours mahogany tinged black into a snifter. Mocha head with good retention recedes to hug rim. Smoked dark pit fruit aromas. Soft with toasted pumpernickel and treacle upfront turning to warm earthy brown bread in the lasting finish.

Nitro at Canary Square, 5/11/17.
Dark mahogany with milk chocolate hues. Opaque and with a typical nitro head that is dark beige and showing strong retention.
Deep roast shows bitter cocoa, some ash and quite a bit of molasses/treacle character. Buttercream-like notes from the base malts do soften things but it still remains quite intense with tons of ash and vinous qualities. Clean and with no alcohol breaking through.
Ashy roast notes collect on the edges of the palate as light milk chocolate character is produced by the dark and base malts combining. Typical watery-soft-slick nitro texture with some vegetal notes, prune and molasses on the finish that are all done to-style. No citrusy hops here is a big plus and the alcohol somehow doesnt manage to cut through the nitro-weakened texture. Pretty nice baltic porter though of course I hate everything nitrogen does to a beer. I have had this one on draught before and it was still rich, burnt and vinous.

Sample draft at the source on nitro. Pitch black in color. The nose is dark chocolate, molasses, vanilla, with a touch of roasted bitterness.

The flavor is very dry with the dark chocolate, molasses, and roasted bitterness, and just a hint of earthy malts in the back of the palate. The body is full with the nitro adding the smooth texture. Another all around nicely crafted brew.

A very dark brown appearance. 1 finger creamy off-white head. Nose is a light bitter chocolate nougat like a dessert. Taste is very similar. Creamy, chocolate, some smoked malts, chocolate cookie dough minus the sweetness.

Good sized draft sample at the Granite State Brewfest yesterday. Light brown color body was a bit thin, nice flavors, but the recipe needs some help.
