Overall Impression: Nice red color, almost tastes more like a winter beer then a fall beer. Not bad, but missing something.

Bottle Pours out a amber topped with a small sand head. Aroma of a light hop with a so so malt. Tast was of malt and a little bitter on the end.

Amber coloured body with a small white head. Aroma of fresh hops and a bit of caramel malt. Medium-bodied; Strong fresh hop taste, very surprising for this beer with a good malt backbone. Aftertaste has a bit of hop bite (good thing) with mostly malty flavours. Overall, a decent amber ale - good flavours throughout. I sampled this beer on draught as a sampler at the Shirlington Oktoberfest in Arlington, Virginia on 07 October 2006.

Pours clear copper color with off white head. Light malt aroma. Biscuitty flavor with some caramel and a slight hop bitterness. Medium body with average carbonation. Average at best.

Bottle from BevMo in Natomas, CA. Copper color with a slight whitish head. Rather roasted malt aroma. Medium body with creamish carbonation. Flavor is spiced malt. You could sell this as a pumpkin ale. Like pumpkin is tasteless - right? It’s all about the spice. These are really spicey noble hops. (Ok, they may not meet strict geographic requirements) A real surprise. It’s very fresh and clean. Almost deserves a new category. Not one of those droopy ambers. Really stands up and stands out.

Bottle. Poured Amber with medium white head. Not much aroma, but what there was was pleasant. Some roast, caramel and much malty notes in the flavour. Medium mouthfeel. Mild finish, but lasting.

Draft: Darker copper pour with a large, lasting beige head. Aroma is light of musty malt and some florals. Tastes a bit dirty, and not in the fun kind of way. A bit toasty, floral, and earthy. Just wasn’t really thrilled by this.

12 oz bottle from KAggie97. Pour is clear copper amber with an off white head. Aroma of sweet malt and a touch of grassy hops. Taste is more hop than malt, but not really all that much of either. Taste also features some chemical sweetness which is off-putting. I wasn’t too crazt about this one, but I was very glad I had a chance to try it. Thanks Kevin!

Bottle. Dark amber color that borders on orange and copper. Head is smallish, especially after a couple of minutes. Aromas are of bread and apple juice. Flavor is more of the same with a slight bit of a peat flavoring that adds a little bite before disappearing back into the apple juice concentrate sweetness that dominates most of the opening palate and the aftertaste. Ar, Red Hook, will you ever captivate my interest?

Bottle. I was a little disapointed with this brew. I’m not a huge fan of Ambers, but when they’re done right, I love them. This one was just a little too toasted malty for me, with not enough hop balance in my mind. Bittersweet finish, not as refreshing as I would have liked.
