Cask version of McEwan’s 70/- is a beer that’s perfect for drinking with friends. Rich in taste and creamy in texture, it’s an ale that oils the wheels of a night out. Smooth times are ahead.
The shilling categories in our beers’ names have an interesting history. In the nineteenth century the taxman charged a duty in shillings on each hogshead (54 gallons) of beer depending on its strength. The stronger the beer, the more he levied.
