On tap at Essex Arms, Huntly. Brown beer with a thin white head, no aroma. Flat but some lacing. That NZ fizzy sherbet sickly sweet thing going on. Just like Lion Red, DB, etc.

330ml bottle. Pours dull flat brown. Flat, caramel, toffee, touch of pear, little cereal, little biscuit, only a small twinge of stewed vegetables. Flat body. Honestly one of the better NZ draught macrobrews experiences.

From old tasting notes. Clear amber orange color with a light tan head. Interesting malt aroma hints at clover leaf and hard boiled eggs. Slightly herbaceous malt flavor upfront. Brief sweet malt middle. Finish is bland and listless. Not good.

Bright clear deep amber beer, tidy white head. Light palate, a little crisp and a little dry. Dry pale malt. Mild and sweet generic fruit. Mild minerals and then a pretty dry finish. Interesting. Nice flavour but a bit too dry.

From a 330ml bottle on 18/1/2013. Pours a clear dark golden with a biggish head. Has a typical, modest stale grain smell. Flavour wise, there’s a dash of sweet malt and not much else. This is saved from being horrible by a good dash of bitterness at the end. Still, it’s quite watery and ordinary.

Bottled. An amber beer with a thin lazing off-white head. The aroma has notes of caramel and malt as well as a bit of metal. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, and metal, leading to a dry finish.

(Bottle 33 cl) Clear amber golden with a small, rough, off-white head. Aroma of malt and caramel. Medium in body with some malts and sweetish caramel and a touch of metal. A subdued hint of hops in the finish. Drinkable though. 120208

Golden-bronze colour. Rich head but it dies quickly. Aroma of caramel and loading dock with some sawdust. Thin, metallic, empty caramel taste. Marginal character at best, quick but unclean.
