Cask at GBBF 2006. A pitch black beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of roasted coffee, a nice expresso roasted, combined with light notes of chocolate. THe flavor is sweet with strong notes of coffee, chocolate, and roasted malt, towards the end a slight acidity from the coffee mixes in with bitterness from the roasted malt. Nice body for a 5% ABV beer.
Bottled. A pitch black beer with a huge brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with strong notes of chocolate, and so is the flavor, but here mixed with light acidic notes from the hard roasted malt. [7/5/6/3/12]

(Bottle 50 cl) Pours completely black and opaque with a nice, beige head. Very burned aroma. Medium body with accents of burned malt and then some odd saline and acidic accents. Starts promising but ends rather unfortunate. Something is not quite right here. 040307

(Cask at GBBF, London, 3 Aug) Colour is pitch black with a small dark brown foamy head. Nose is roasted with rich aromas of black coffee and dark chocolate, hints of juniper berries. Taste is roasted with notes of dark bitter chocolate, coffee, juniper berries, blueberries and peat smoke. Dry as sand-paper with a nice citrussy hop finish. Absolutely brilliant.
