Bavaria Light is characterized by its low calorie and alcohol content. It has its own identity, its bitter flavor balanced with its body. Extremely refreshing, this beer quenches thirst without the “rebound” effect of sugars. It has generous fullness for its type, and all the qualities belonging to a perfect Lager. Florida has been producing Bavaria Light since 1993.

350 ml tall can purchased in downtown Limon, Costa Rica. Clear pale gold color with a white head and decent retention. Sparse lacing. Thin, crisp and light mouthfeel. Taste is a little watery, but the flavor is decent. A little grainy. Pretty good for only 3.4 ABV.

My notes are so messy, I can’t really read what I wrote about this beer, but I used the F word several times and gave it the score above. That should say enough.

Bottle in some random bar, Puntarenus, Costa Rica on 29th March 2014: why do I drink these sort of beers? I know I don’t like them: I’ve turned into a ticker haven’t I? In my quest to drink as many different Costa Rican beers during our short stop over as possible I’ve driven myself to this sort of thing (and a bloody Rock Lemon!). Weak, and iffy in all aspects: quench your thirst with this my all means, but don’t expect a beer experience. I’d take a sip then wash your feet in it!

Bottled in Monteverde, Costa Rica. Clear pale yellow, coarse head. Metallic nose with some rotting vegetables. Sloppy and empty, razor blade thin. Corn syrup, water and aluminium. Metallic finish. Useless.

Jesus, I don’t know why I keep doing this - the depths I’ll go to in order to scare up a rating in this country. Unbelievable what a monopoly on trash Florida Bebidas has in Costa Rica. I wonder what their marketing plan is. Hmmm, let’s try this: another trashy pale lager. We’ll call it the same as the rest only we’ll add ’light’ or ’ice’ or something after the name and add one more or less grain of barley where needed so we can say the beer is different.

Bottle: Poured a light golden yellow color lager with a small bubbly head with minimal retention and not much lacing. Aroma consists of light adjunct with minimal residual sugar. Taste is also quite bland with light corn adjunct notes with a smooth finish. Another boring and very bland lager from this brewery.

12oz (3.4% abv) can brought back from CR by my wife
Appearance: Pours clear golden with a small white head that dissipates quickly, no lacing. Plenty of carbonation.
Aroma: Pale malts, corn & grassy
Taste: Sweet malts, grainy with some slight bitterness in the finish
This is a decent low alcohol lager. Crisp and clean, very drinkable.
