Des arômes de fumé se confondent dans un caramel discret sous des effluves de terre humide et d’accents orangés.
Un liquide doré orangé partiellement voilé se couvre d’une mousse moyennement épaisse et crémeuse qui persiste assez bien.
Un subtil fumé est introduit rapidement en bouche, poursuivi par un fruité bien présent rappelant les oranges confites, la banane et un peu l’ananas.
Le fumé s’accompagne également de douces notes de genièvre et de muscade.
L’amertume est à peu près inexistante à part peut-être celle issue du léger fumé.
L’alcool est également très bien dissimulé dans la palette.
Malgré la gazéification un peu trop ample pour le style (on comprend qu’elle est embouteillée), elle demeure très authentique.
Un plaisir à chaque gorgée.

Bouteille brune, lors d’une dégustation avec Per, savourée le 24 mars 2017; œil : cuivrée, limpide, pas d'effervescence, minuscule anneau de mousse fauve, très légère dentelle; nez : malt, caramel, léger levure; bouche : malt, caramel, léger levure, légère âcreté, finale maltée avec très légère présence d'âcreté, corps moyen, carbonatation moyenne, moyennement sucrée, texture coulante; en résumé : intéressante

Le breuvage était extrêmement malté et sans effervescence. C’est un style vraiment étrange à découvrir, mais aucunement déplaisant pour autant. En bouche, les céréales caramélisées, la muscade et le raisin dominaient.

Bottled at Ottawa gathering. Hazy amber, small head. Bready orange aroma. Mid sweet with medium-full body and soft mouthfeel. Woody and caramelly with orange and slight minerals. Soft caramelly bread. Light husky bitterness. Interesting and harmonious.

A golden amber Voss ol, with a thin white head. In aroma, loads of dark fruits, light mineral notes, light rye notes, pleasant and smooth. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity malt with light maple, light rye, treacle, light butterscotch, very nice and. Bottle at Per’s Almost gone tasting, March 2017.

Biggish beige head. Hazy deep dark red body. Fruity caramelly aroma with earthy vaguely milky notes. Sweetish fruity caramelly taste with earthy orangey notes. Faint, faint smoke. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft, slightly flat mouthfeel. (Which is to say there’s a little more carbonation than what’s true to style. FWIW.) Sweetish fruity orangey wet clayey earth aftertaste with herbal spicy notes. Lingering orangey flavour, with green, mossy flavours. Nice, drinkable, unusual. (0.375? bottle, gift from MartinT. Lot #0M-1.)

It’s nice, I like it. Sigmund’s kveik is recognizable through both the oranges and the wet, clayey earth flavour. I can’t pick out any juniper at all, though. It’s also drier than expected. And there is more carbonation. The slight tang of acidity that runs through it I think is probably true to style, and it certainly doesn’t bother me.
