BB Boom is very complex on the nose with floral and white grape notes, typical of Vermentino, along with pink grapefruit, Seville orange and tropical fruits, mango primarily, originating from the unique and expertly blended bouquet of hops. On the palate it is impressively sumptuous with vinous and fruit notes, quince especially, and a strong and persistent bitter finish, which reflects the by now famous Barley trade-mark of easy to drink beers with a high alcohol content. the resulting beer is exceptional and extremely satisfying.

Bottle from Scurreria Beer & Bagel and thoroughly enjoyed at Spianata Castelletto whilst watching the sun go down over Genoa. Beer pours a hazy amber colour with a small but lasting off white head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, fruit, vanilla and lightly herbal. Medium sweetness, light bitterness, and a touch of sour. Medium to full body, sticky texture, soft carbonation. Finish is somewhat dry, with some bitterness and a sour edge. Maybe not a fruit beer? But thought it a very good beer!

Fruit beer? Right! I’m a monkeys uncle then! Almost clear amber beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is airy and dry. Decent fine carbonation. Thin malts, a little dry creamy sweetness. Dry spice. Trace of citrus peel. Dry finish. Dry, spicy and hardly any fruit. Clunky!

Bottiglia riserva 2014 @ Simei 2015, Milano.

Bottle from gbbf 2015 and drunk at home. Hazy orange gold lasting beige head. Fruity aroma no doubt. Some sweetness in the malts. Dryish finish though. Grapey aroma and flavour. Tastes a little like a Belgian strong ale. Hides abv well and the malt is a little biscuit. I enjoyed it. The biscuit and malts were good as was the fruit. Alcohol sidled up to me.

Bottle at chriso’s. Pours clear gold with a light white froth. The nose holds pale bready malts, some white grapes, berries. Medium to heavy sweet flavor with rich bready pale malts, some bitter hay, lightly leathery berries, golden raisins. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish with more pale bread, ripe and leathery fruits. Not bad.
