Costa Ricans have been enjoying this beer since 1924. Imperial is created from a balanced formula combining malts, grains and hops, without a pronounced overtone in its taste. It is what is known as a “centralized” beer. Adapted to a warm and spring-like climate, Imperial is Florida’s most popular and widely accepted beer, both nationally and internationally, and has thus become the favorite beer of Costa Rica.

Good grief.

Shared bottle at local tasting. ABV is 4.6%. Golden colour, low white head. Dusty, grainy and slightly sweetish unappealing aroma. Bland flavour, dusty notes, mminimal bitterness, extremely boring.

Bottle from Half Time Beverage, New York. Country #112. Pours a pale gold/yellow colour with small white head. Mild aroma of corn and grass. Very light on bitterness, thin texture, average carbonation. Simple pale lager, drinkable when cold on a hot day.

Pours a very pale golden color, topped with a small and quickly disappearing white head. There is a mild malty aroma, not much else. The taste is light, watery and sweet. No real bitterness in the finish. OK, when it’s ice cold. Otherwise, meh.

Aroma has cardboard and some grainy tones and some grainy tones. Flavour has grainy malt and hints of corn. Quite straightforward but still rather clean pale lager. Refreshing.

Bottle. A- Corn, hay, slightly sweet, watery. A- Golden color, clear liquid, white head. T- Sweet corn, watery. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, crisp finish. O- As with any pale lager, there isn’t much to talk about. This one isn’t horrible. Slightly sweet and thankfully not skunky or metallic flavors. I think that in itself is a win.
