We’re pleased to introduce Elements of Composition, a blend of beer and friendship spanning the course of years. In February 2016, brewers from De Garde Brewing, Jester King Brewery, and Sante Adairius Rustic Ales in met in Tillamook, Oregon to blend beer from each of their respective breweries. Three year old, 100% spontaneously fermented beer from De Garde was blended with two year old, 100% spontaneously fermented beer from Jester King, and mature, foudre aged saison from Sante Adairius. The result is a beer distinct from, but not greater than, the sum of its parts.

Massive thanks to digita7693! Bomber sampled @ LIBF 2017. Cheers to Sebletitje hitting 10k. Pale citrus golden, little white head. Nose is mellow soapy, funk, fizzy, peach, near mineral. Taste is basic fizzy mineral, sparkling, vague fruit, far more restraint than you would expect, low soap, low oak & stone fruit, vague peach. Fizzy, bit mineral. Far more mellow, low soapy than I expected. Solid beer but granted I expected a bit more with these 3 breweries involved. Still very happy to have tried this one!

Bottle sample @ LIBF’17, thanks to Don for cracking this one open.

Bottle, picked up at the Pilcrow, Manchester. Orange gold. Soft haze. Film and ring of white head. Nose has mouldy lemon. Damp grain. Underripe stone fruit. Soft, leathery funk. Nice balance of fruit and fustiness. Taste is soft, fruity sweet, with a funky, pissy twang. Super clean and bright mouthfeel. Any tartness comes at the end, with a lemon and lime juice sourness. Super drinkable, with way less acidity than I expected. Lovely beer.

Bottle shared by Adair with huge thanks. Pours quite hazy golden orange, small white head, decent lacing. Aroma is light overall, oaky, hints of stonefruit, earthy funk. Dry, very lightly tart, mineral water character, light funk. Light body. Does not seems to have the complexity that i would have expected from this collaboration. Maybe it needs some additional bottle conditioning?

Sampled from bottle at ’Craft Beer Corner’. Clear, golden yellow with a white layer. Sourish-fruity, a little funky aroma of lemon, rhubarb, straw and a touch of barnyard. Moderately sour, slightly fruity and a bit funky taste of lemon, rhubarb, oak and some barnyard, followed by a medium long, moderately tart, woody-dry finish. Thin to medium body, moderately astringent and slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Nice!
