An aromatic red ale for today’s drinker. With a biscuity malt backbone and notes of caramel and pine, BRÚ Red is a sophisticated and modern beer.

Very dense & fine, lightly amberish tinted head, fast dwindling over foxy copper beer. Caramel, wet dog, maltcookies, sweat. Lightly bitterish caramel, sweetness arriving as an aftertought, before taking over; Very malty brew, in the end. Parsley, bit leafy, dry cookies. Very light body, spritzy carbonation. Aftertaste acquires some marzipan flavour. Too little, too late. The Smithwicks spectre roams even the craft segment.

Draft @ Moeder Lambic Original, Irish Craft Beer #1, shared with 77ships.

Draft glass shared with Sebletitje @ Moeder Lambiek Original. Dark orange, little white head. Nose is malty herbal, muted rustic pine, farmland, more herbal than pine forward. Taste big dull old apple, almost cardboard-like, bland slab of cooked apple, sugar, paper, bland malts,… milky body on top, stale cooked apple. Boring at best, big almost oxidized apple sweetness profile doesn’t do much for me. Pass.

Cask @ Cross Keys, York. Golden with a thin head. Has a hoppy-dry tropical fruit aroma and taste. Called Bru Red when I had it.
