Typical Belgian Christmas Scotch, also tasted as Noël des Géants (its first name in 2007). Also sold in giant bottles (I’ve seen one of 3 litres). Thick and somewhat rocky, sticky, light beige head, colour a deep mahogany bronze, clear but misty after adding the deposit, the way it should be. Aroma of chocolate, coffee liqueur, hazelnuts, cloves, gingerbread, aniseed, flowery hops, liquorice, pine resin. Malt sweetness in the mouth with dark fruits and some citrus peel, turning a deep nutty and chocolatey malty in the middle with not too pushy spicy notes (aniseed, ginger), dry roasted bitterness in the end with herbal hops. Not very original, but decent and enjoyable.

Mild kräuterartig süßlicher Malzantrunk mit geringer, nicht unpassender Oxidationsnote. Im Mittelteil intensiver werdend, mit dem Malz steigern sich auch die Kräuternoten, spritzig, vollmundig. Geringfügig schokoladig zum Ende, die Süße zieht sich ein wenig zurück, wodurch das Bier noch runder wirkt. Langer schokoladiger Nachhall mit deztner Hopfennote. 8/9/10/11/8/11

Dobre ale jednak nie rewelacyjne piwo swiateczne. Piekny kolor, piana i niebywala metnosc. Piwo w smaku przypomina spruchniale drewno z nuta zepsutego egzotycznego cytrusa. Owocowy posmak znika zaraz po przelknieciu gdyz jest cierpki i wytrawny finisz, troche chmielny i rozgrzewajacy ale podczas degustacji alkoholu wogole nie wyczuwamy.

Pours clear brown with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, sugar, yeast and fruits. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter with a long caramel and fruity finish. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Dark brown colour. Aroma has quite strong clove and aniseed. Very smooth taste and quite warming too. The clove does numb the taste a little.

330ml bottle. Clear reddish amber colour with average to huge, frothy, lasting, lacing, off-white head. Fruity and nuttily aroma, caramel malt, bread, red berries, a herbal dry hoppy note. Taste moderately sweet fruity, herbal overtones, a touch of soapy cardamom, a tart touch.

11.2oz bottle poured into a shaker. Aroma of caramel malt and a little mint. Pours a hazy dark brown with about a half finger of off-white head. Taste is light bitter and light sweet. Caramel and mint with some roasty malt. Medium bodied with a somewhat thin texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, not bad. Nothing I would seek out but I’ll enjoy this one.
