F: medium, tan, average retention.
C: dark coppery to brown.
A: rich malty, red berries, woody, cognac, caramel, toffee.
T: full malty base, roasted tones, woody, bit cognac, chocolate, dry toffee herbal, some berries, soft carbonation, nice balanced bitterness, good one, enjoyed.

Bottle at home, acquired at La Cave à Bulles, Paris. Aroma is malt, caramel, lots of wood, toffee, cognac, sweet dried fruits, vanilla, hoppy notes in the finish. Flavour is sweet and moderate bitter. Body is above medium, bit sticky. Very oaky barrel notes, mild cognac, big caramel toffee malt and dried fruits from the hops. A fine Barley Wine.

Аромат сразу бросает в тебя весьма сложный и неоднозначный камень. Сильно чувствуется разные добавки и приправы, немного фруктовый с ноткой кофейной ноткой. Цвет красивый, богатый, темно-коричневый с постоянной тонкой кремовой пенкой. Вкус плавный по началу, кофе уже чуть больше, хорошая горечь, снова много пряностей и добавок. Само пиво весьма плотное. Послевкусие идет с сильной горчинкой и легкой кофейной кислинкой.

Aus der Flasche im 2024-05 getrunken. Diese rotschwarze Barley Wine zeigt mit seiner deutlichen Bitterkeit durch Röst- und Hopfenaromen sein eher Amerikanischen Charakter. Anfangs sind Trockenfrüchte und die klassiche Getreidenoten deutlich. Doch im Abgang wird mir dieses Barley Wine zu bitter wo aber auch nichts als das bleibt. Nein kein Bier für mich!

Fifth beer on a mini-tasting at home on 22nd March 2024. Poured into a La Chouffe tulip glass, head soon left, ruby red body. Boozy cognac aroma and initial taste, it's semi-sweet and a lovely winter warmer.

Mahogany brown colour with thin head. Sweet and caramel tasting. Perhaps the wood adds a little spicy gingerbread note.

On tap at BeerGeek Bar Prague, shared with hrabren and Marko. Amber/brownish coloured, small off-white head, caramel, dried fruits and alcohol in the nose. Sweet malty, caramel, alcohol and notes of spices with dried fruits in the finish.

Bottle 0.33l from our archive, vintage 2016. Cloudy, copper colored. AROMA- lots of fruit, strawberry, red currant, pale plums, plums, raisins, dates, cinnamon, nice alcohol. FLAVOR- moderately sweet, slightly bitter, a bit warming, fruity again, raisins, cinnamon, clove, touch of licorice, pleasant alcohol. Full bodied. Well aged, noble ale.
