Cognac Barrel is an amber type beer worked with French oak wood and Cognac. The nose is woody, suave and the superb tan color is reminiscent of that of the famous spirit. Round, complex and rich, it appeals to all types of amateurs.

Bottle. Color: Copper, yellow-ish beige head. Aroma: Sweetish fudge, fruity Cognac. Taste: Sweetish, almost sirupy sweet fruity grapes, Cognac, notes of wood., some caramel, raisins en light hints of nuts. Boozy. Tannins. Dry-ish mouthfeel. Over medium sweet (in a good, fruity way), moderate bitterness, going to above moderate at finish. Full body, below average carbonation. Nice complexity, long lasting finish.

FB deleted my post “unable to publish” and has changed the interface... ugh. That super pickle beer was from La Debauche which I tried in Paris and was called Summer Oddity years ago. Coincidentally, Dig the Line now import them! I picked up one that looked good and I thought was BA but reading the label may only be wood aged. La Debauche Cognac Barrel 9.5% Reddish brown with a wispy tan head - it looks pretty. The aroma has some boozy heat but also yummy molasses, biscuit, caramel and oak. Medium bodied and very smooth with bitter treacle, oak, hints of cognac, pepper, biscuit - this is a smooth beer that’s hitting the spot on a rainy day though the heat says it’ll age well... if I get out by Shinpuhkan I may try to snag another bottle.

Donkerbruin bier met mooie schuimkraag. Smaak is zoet en licht bitterzuur met iets van karamel, wat noten en rozijnen. Eerlijk gezegd kan ik de cognac niet terug herkennen in de smaak.

Bottle. Unclear brownish amber body with a moderate sized beige head. Nice aroma of malt, dry fruit, candy sugar and distinct warming alcohol like vinous/Cognac. Taste is sweet dark malt, some caramel, dry fruit, wood, vinous and warming alcohol/Cognac. Fine body and long lasting, smooth, rich aftertaste. Nice sipper.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a cloudy, opaque orangey brown with a small, beige head. Nose has some caramel, wood and pretty intense Cognac. Rich body that may seem initially sweet with - again - hints of caramel, but soon the massive wood and booze takes over adding an almost astringent character whacking the balance of the beer. It's rough, and a Cognac beer shouldn't be. 070120

Bottle, dark amber color. Dried fruit, ginger and a hint of cognac in the aroma. Massively sweet, oily hops, dried fruit, ginger, oak and cognac in the flavor.
