This year we are in Slovenia, with a new variety that we literally selected on the field and whose quality was exceptional at the moment of the harvest. The result is a "Belgian IPA", massively dry-hopped but extremely balanced, with room left to fermentation flavours.
It is intensely fruity, with hints of physalis, passion fruit, gooseberries, peach, and green pear. Floral notes of acacia are also present, as well as a delicate minerality. A slight sulphurous note adds to its character. These flavours get longer and more intense in the mouth, and are accompanied by a nice malty base and structured by an intense but elegant bitterness, which underlines its freshness. The final is dry and bitter.

Milder rezent, tief gerstig, schwer. Im Abgang saftig harzige, knackige Bittere. - Ungewöhnlich elegant gehopftes IPA, stark bitter und dennoch weich und rund. Ganz große Klasse. (1.9.2020.)

Pours a bit unclear, pale yellow. Small white head. Smell is surprisingly dank. Mild hay, crisp and light. Yet so weed-forward. Taste is full, bitter, sharp, dank, green and herbal. Grassy hops.

330 ml bottle from Etre Gourmet, bottled 04 Mar 20. Orange, medium hazy body, with a big, fluffy, lacing, light yellow head. Aroma of citrus, flowers, apricot, dough, pine, resin, grass. Tastes similar, with more earthy notes. Medium, a bit creamy mouthfeel, with a lively carbonation. Finishes bitter, medium dry, piney, earthy, resinous, citric, doughy, grassy, with some sweet fruits. Tasty. Interesting combination of piney hops, doughy yeast notes and sweet fruits. Especially the apricot notes are lovely and set this apart from previous vintages of Brussels Calling. Crisp and perfectly balanced stuff, as always from DLS. Score: 8 / 4 / 8 / 4 / 16
