The Aromas are dark malt, roast and coffee. Flavors are similar to Nose, mildly sweet up front with a nice balance of bitter and carbonation to follow. Fresh coffee, good body and Finish. Nice coffee Stout. Thanks Paul!

16 oz. can from my weekend through Michigan. Pours dark brown like a porter, but with a more brown head. Smell has ground coffee, some stout hops, and a bit of dark roasted malt to it. I think the roast in the taste is more from the malt than coffee, but there is an extra side of bitterness. And perhaps some oily texture from coffee beans. And the coffee component gets a little more obvious toward the end of the glass. Not very smooth, but that's okay for this kind of beer.

Very coffee-forward, to the point very little stout comes through in the beer beyond a pleasant smoky roastiness on the fade. Coffee cherry, hints of cherry and metal, with a super-dry pumpernickel finish accented by a clingy bitterness. Not bad, just one-note.

Rich dark brown coloured body with a thinnish, two centimetre tall tan head on top and a nice opaque glow of brown, about 70% opaque. Aroma of pure molasses, brown sugars, roasted and toasted malts, some oats, a little bit of earth and cereals and another bite of anise and some spice. Medium-bodied; Rich roasty flavours with a big dose of metal and earth along with some chocolate and caramelised sugars, coupled with a good toast and nutty finish that shows a lot of fuller bodied notes near the end. Aftertaste has a pleasant complexity with the toasted malts and earthiness by far the strongest, but also with a little dose of sweetness and even spice with a smooth finish of chocolate and even some bread and unfinished yeast noticeable as well. Overall, a well-structured and nicely flavoured stout with almost a porter-like flavour, but some good chocolate and spice flavours and a good body with a smooth complexity near the end make this very nice, especially when the weather isn’t perfect outside! I sampled this sixteen ounce can purchased from Siciliano’s in Grand Rapids, Michigan on 11-September-2015 for US$2,59 sampled at home in Washington on 30-May-2017.

On tap at Mani. Pours near black with a light brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces. Aroma has coffee and chocolate with a light dark grain backbone. Flavor has mild chocolate, coffee and dark grains combining.

Purchased at Siciliano's Market in Grand Rapids, MI; enjoyed at home on a cool late summer evening. Appearance is pitch black with a rich tan head, looks great. Aroma is very much heavy on the coffee notes along with dark chocolate, smells awesome. Taste is very good, dry and bitter with espresso flavor, delicious. Would have again.
