New coffee porter by Dok, created in collaboration with Brew By Numbers; from tap at Dok's premises as an apéritif to their fantastic one-year celebration festival. Thick and frothy, shred-lacing, ecru-beige head, open and quickly thinning, all but gone after a while; black robe with wine red edge. Aroma of coffee filters, very old and dried out coffee powder, ground walnuts, unsugared chocolate, 'blood'-like iron, subtle hints of dry tea bags, charcoal and popcorn. Cleanly fruity onset, light dried fig sweetishness; soft carb, responsible for the relative lack of head stability I guess but also for a somewhat thin and watery mouthfeel, certainly since this came from the nitro tap... Light minerally notes nonetheless accompany a dry-bready, lightly toffeeish and coffee-like profile, roasty in the end with only a subtle touch of coffee aromatics (could have been more for me). Herbal tea- and tree leaf-like effect as well as light liquorish notes in the end, but the hop bitterness remains fairly soft. Not bad, but seems to need more carbonation and more aromatic coffee features - but then, I had this right after that massive Sticky Wings, so maybe I need to revisit this one.

Pretty clear purple brown beer, small aery irregular beige head, unstable, falls down quickly. Aroma: very malty, chocolate notes, caramel, some dried fruits, ripe banana. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: lots of ripe banana up front, dark chocolate, some roasted coffee, bit sourish, caramel notes. Aftertaste: slightly sweet, nice bitter roast, fruity, some red currants, cocoa powder, banana peel, little metallic, malty, lots of grains.
