Buxton IPA from a 33 cl bottle. Moussy, somewhat irregular, egg-white head, leaving some small patches of lacing here and there, quickly thinning in the middle but stable on the edges, over a lightly hazy ’old gold’ coloured beer with pale orangey hue. Aroma of lime juice, starfruit, pink grapefruit flesh, rambutan fruit, dank tropical orchids, warm toast, soggy biscuit, green peppercorns, fainter hints of unripe banana, minerals, cypress leaves, courgette, withering basil, freshly baked cookies, wakame, curcuma powder, old garlic, vague marihuana - but no ’old hops urine’ this time. Crisp, fruity onset but in a clean and restrained way, sweetish mandarin (lively) and guava (more subdued), sweet-and-sour passion fruit and a mild touch of softly sourish lime, even some very light umami of fresh green seaweed, softly carbonated in a supple, lightly oily, slick physical environment. A biscuity malt sweet core builds up after this, with even a brief accent of honey cookies, but quickly making way for the expected wave of lovely aromatic hoppiness, pleasantly drying the finish along with some dry baker’s yeast-like sensations; the hops leave behind a coating of spicy, quite deep and explicit bitterness, a tad wormwood-like even, but also behave properly in terms of retronasal impressions, ranging from orangey and lime-like to slightly piney and (exotically) peppery. This pepperiness lingers along with the last remnants of the malt sweetness after swallowing, but the hops clearly prevail over the malts; the tail is so juicy that it almost feels like swallowing freshly squeezed grapefruit juice. Aromatic, elegant, refreshing and a tad different from the ever more vast ocean of ’international IPAs’ spanning the world, this is again a beautiful Buxton creation. I love this brewery passionately.

Bottle. Hazy yellow. Aroma: citrus and fruits, malt, a little spicy. Taste: malt, citrus, fruits, a biscuit, good hop bitterness.

Body: Medium body and carbonation.
Flavour: Fruit, hops, some grapefruit, citrus.

Bottle at home. Pours hazy golden with white head. Aroma of esters, burnt rubber, pine needles, some citrus. Tastes bitter, almost astringent. Dry mouth feel, bitter finish. A bit overcarbonated.

Bottle, 330 ml shared with Miro B. and JFK10000. Pours golden with white head. Citrus, grapefruit, hoppy. Sweet with moderate bitter finish. Dry. Medium bodied.

Hazy yellow color, small steady white head, lace. Aroma has mango fruityness, belgi yeasty spiceyness. Light to medium-bodied. Spicey mango flavor, hints of honey. Citrusy finish. Somewhat stuffy, not refreshing, heavy for its ABV.

Bottle. Pale golden beer with a good head. The aroma is dry and lightly hopped, and the flavour is well hopped with a grapefruit like bitterness. Overall a nice quite bitter IPA. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Yellow beer with a frothy white head. Sweet and spicy hop aroma. Taste has a touch of spice to it as well. Grassy citrus, bitter, hoppy. Not much sweetness in there and the aftertaste is dry as well. I think just a touch of sweetness in it could have made this a really interesting beer and better for it but it’s really nice all the same.

Elgin, 5/26/16. Gold with a lasting, frothy white head.  Fairly heavy lace. Clean, solid hop flavor.  Soft-to-average carbonation.
