Alter Ego is a member of the Julius family, taking the base of Julius and adding a tremendous amount of Mosaic to the dry hop with a kiss of Amarillo. What results is a beer with all the deliciousness of Julius with a pungent additional layer of citrusy complexity. Over time, Alter Ego has become a truly singular member of the Tree House family.

A pour from the can on Black Christmas V. Canned on 2017-11-28. Pours a murky blonde with a white head. Aroma is piney and fruity, a bit dirty. Similar taste. Nice one.

Can shared by Kyle, thanks! Pours a cloudy earthy gold with a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a combination of earthy citrus and light pine with grass and grains underlying. Flavor is similar with grass and a bit of citrus supported by light onion and grain.

50cl can, sample. Hazy golden colour, white head. Aroma of onion, citrus, grass, pine, some tropical fruits. Flavour also has quite some sharp gras and spruce, onions, dank, nettles, some tropical fruits underneath. Very bitter. Light bodied.

16oz can pours a very muddy darker orange with some sticky, white head. Nose has oranges, tangerines, mango, guava, green vanilla. Flavor has more tropical fruit, guava, mango, starfruits, super ripe pear, vanilla, some melon sorbet. Finishes bitter and creamy.

Can from the brewery, 5 days old. Cloudy golden orange, dark. Nose is grapefruit, pineapple, orange, apricot, cantaloupe melon, mango, big citrus overall. Juicy flavor, lots of orange and grapefruit, some pineapple, prickly, peppery. No dankness, just huge fruit juice. Prickly, peppery finish but not bitter. Not much malt compared to Julius, and a bit thinner and less beery, but still great.

Super fresh, extremely delicious. And how could it not be, with such a killer hop combo. --- Beer merged from original tick of Alter Ego on 16 Jul 2017 at 15:06 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 9 | Flavor - 9 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 9. Original review text: Very hazy orange pour with a thin off-white head. Lots of citrus up front, followed by a wave of uripe tropical fruit (mango, pineapple, passion fruit, a bit of papaya), dank pot, mandarin oranges, funky Amarillo for lack of a better term, some onions, light green berries and just a bit of pine. Very juicy, with a very light bitterness and also medium sweetness with citrus and tropical fruit dominating the flavour palette.

[1/27/17] Bottle/Can/Crowler/Growler at a bottle share at Flamingo Hotel in Santa Rosa. Cloudy yellow. Fruity hops, oniony, dry, some unpleasant cucumber notes. Not really my thing. 7/3/6/3/12=3.1

Pours a very murky, peach-orange, with middling head. Strong citrus and hop aromas. Flavor is very juicy, with citrus and tropical fruit, hop bite, and just a touch of sweetness to round it all out. Outstanding beer!
