$5.15 can from WW. Black with a large dark brown head. Cocoa, chocolate brownie, coffee, roasted malt nose. Chocolate brownie, coffee, cream, caramel, vanilla, light bourbon, almost coconut but not quite. Effing delicious. Thick.

Black and oily with quick fading head. Intense aroma of strong coffee and bittersweet dark malts. Something of melted chocolate ice cream too. Texture is pleasantly slick. The flavour of roasted bitter coffee dominates. There's enough sweetness to balance it out though. I guess that slightly honeyed sweetness is coming from the whiskey although I don't get a specific note of Bourbon.

Can, 0.355l. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt, cocoa and herbs. Pours pitch black color with thin creamy brown head and average sparkling appearance. Taste starts with moderate sweet and rich roasted malt, nuts and coffee, follows by licorice, chocolate and wood, mouthfeel is warm alcoholic and spicy, while finish is mild bitter. Full body, thick creamy texture and average carbonation in palate. Big bad thing...

Absolutely wonderful stout. Thick, rich waves of dark chocolate, molasses, anise, caramel, coffee, char, and bourbon, with undertones of black cherry and a little raisin. Finishes with lingering cacao and oak bitterness and a warm, pleasing booziness. Delicious.

American style bourbon barrel aged imperial stout flavoured with coffee and cocoa nibs, the flagship beer of this Utah brewery and the starting point (obviously) of a whole string of further variations; can bought online somewhere during the Covid-19 lockdown. Mousy, pale yellow-beige, opening, thin head leaving some dots at the edge of the glass, black robe with hazy mahogany edges. Aroma of indeed clear coffee (coffee filters), bitter chocolate, whisky, walnuts, toffee, dried sausages, beef stock cubes, rum-soaked raisins, candied dates, old red wine, fig, hints of balsamico (without the sourness) and vague old liquorice. Sweetish onset, candied dates ands cherries, blackberry jam, bit sticky but countered by a subtle sourish undertone adding a vague red wine-like streak; softish carbonation, oily but - for this ABV - remarkably slender, supple body. Smooth hazelnutty, toasted-bready and bitter-chocolatey structure with indeed that coffee note returning in the end, highlighted by warming, whisky-like alcohol though not overly 'hot'; clear vanilla-like oakiness, but the tannic effects of the wood remain soft and mild. Roasty bitter edge in the end, but that hazelnutty and toffeeish sweetness retains the upper hand. Typical modern American 'impy', sweet and boozy, but not lacking in complexity, especially delivered by that unexpected red wine-like tartness subtly running underneath all that black 'stoutness'. Nice one.

Bursdagsfeiringsøl delt med EgilB & Eirik på Likkeløgda. Svart. Høyt mokkafarget skum som daler sakte. Kakaoaroma. Smaken kaffe & lakris. Tørr. Ekstra tørr avslutning. Alkoholen veldig godt kamuflert. Utmerket øl.

BB 26/06/20;Very intense on coffee, coffee beans, sugared coffee, dark chocolate & definitely cocoa nibs, toasted sugars, macchiato, roasted malts, bread, light sweetness, subtle dry fruits, hints of soft alcohol, no obvious whiskey, woody coffee character
