The first edition in our Lineage series of farmhouse ales features local wheat from Valley Malt in Hadley, Massachusetts. Bright, clear, and straw-yellow in appearance, Lineage Wheat invites with a complex nose of grassy funk, crisp citrus rind, pepper, and floral white wine. Starting mildly tart, yet not sour, this approachable saison follows through with flavors of earth, musky funk, woody-oak, light wheat, and some balancing, tangy, citrus character. Lineage Wheat is beautifully light in body and dry on the palate.

Pint can. The beer is a light orangey yellow color and very cloudy. Thick white head with that odd soapy consistency found in a lot of NEIPAs. Interesting hop flavors in the aroma, big mix. Tangerine, pineapple, honeysuckle, apricot, raspberry, mango, kiwi, melon. Mineral-ish flavor to it, as well. Mild crackery malt sweetness. The taste has mild to moderate bitterness. Some interesting earthy, mineral action in there. Lots of nice hop fruitiness. Fairly soft feel. A little bit of zing at the edges. Some pine and cat piss in a danker finish than expected. Good beer.

Thanks Zack for the can! Poured into snifter showing unfiltered hazy dull orange and sparse white foam. The nose shows forward cannabis with notes of guava and light vegetal note. The palate is full bodied and lightly carbonated. Flavors of juicy cannabis and a moderate bitterness with a resurgence of the juicy cannabis.

Poured from a 16 oz can dated 11/07/2016. Aroma is very hop forward with mandarin, tangerine, grapefruit, pineapple and mango. Light stone fruit notes with some light resin and dank notes. Light cracker malt and wheat notes. Pours a very hazy, golden straw color with a medium sized, thick, fluffy, white head that recedes slowly but steadily to the edges where it lingers. Moderate lacing and faint legs. Flavor has a medium light sweetness with light cracker malt notes and hints of wheat. Medium bitterness. Moderate hop notes with mango, orange, and tropical fruit. Some light dank and resin notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice IPA with lots of hop aromas and some lighter flavors. Decent sweetness with light background malt notes.
