Bottle at home. Smells funky. Aroma is malt, Morpheus yeast, chocolate, dark dried fruits, raisins, figs, touch of liquorice. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet with a touch of sourness and bitterness. Body is medium. Hides the alcohol well. Not my kind of Imperial Stout but I dig it in an Alvinne kind of way.

Bottle 0,33ltr: Very dark brown coloured brew with an slightly burning mouthfeel, taste is dry bitter with hints of chocolate, caramel and vanilla.

Deep, opaque color and a tan head. Roasty nose, chocolate and dark coffee. Tart taste, fruity and roasted malts. Faint acidic, old vinegar at finish. Decent dark coffee flavors. Interesting.

Tap at De Kelk, Brugge, Belgium. A dark brown/black coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Roasty, malty, chocolate, berry fruit with some sourness in the taste, aroma much the same. It's decent enough.

Black beer,good head. Smells of toasty malt and has a tartness to it too. Flavour is almost like a sour stout. There's malt and chocolate but a good hit of bittersweet hop too balancing out the typical hop flavours. Almost like a brett flavour. Good balance and something a bit different.

Clear dark brown beer, small creamy beige head, unstable, bit adhesive. Aroma: very malty, grains, hay, cow fodder, alcohol, soft roast. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: bit sourish, very malty, soft roast, malty, grains, some milk chocolate, pretty bitter, little sweet. Aftertaste: malty, pretty roasted finish, soft acidity, bitter, bit hoppy. Decent stout with a rural character.

Belgian Stout est écrit sur l'étiquette...Foutage de gueule plutôt! A la limite j'admettrai Morpheus Stout, car c'est de cela qu'il s'agit ici avec la brasserie Alvine qui se tente à un stout intégrant leur fameuse levure Morpheus. Le résultat est clair et net : une levure qui prend entièrement l'ascendant avec son côté terroir et aigrelet et donc des arômes de malts torréfiés que l'on décèle péniblement...très péniblement. Pas de complexité non plus mais une présence en bouche ainsi qu'une complexité bonnes. Forcément, avec la levure Morpheus qui s'apparente aromatiquement à du Brett, l'alcool à 10 % est aux abonnés absents. Il en va de même pour l'amertume à 59 d'EBU. Pour finir, avec 359 d'EBC, le noir est total avec une mousse beige de 1,5 cm. Cette levure est une tueuse de bière !

Bottle at Gainsbar. Very interesting, roasty but light, choc, caramel, decent bitterness, bit of funk. Bit yoghurt like. Very nice. Dry. Not even a hint of the booze.
