The eighth of twenty-one beers for our 11th wedding anniversary. Ajrín's. More than four years aged. Hazy, dark copper colored. AROMA- plum, cherry, bourbon, nice spices, ginger, nutmeg, dates. FLAVOR- quite sweet, lightly sour, lightly warming, dates, plums, cherries, strawberries, dark grapes, jam, decent ginger and spices, touch of bourbon, red wine. Full, syrupy body. Great liquid dessert.

Murky brown with a ring bubbly tan head. Aroma of herbs, spice, nutmeg, ginger, weirdly coming out like cola, lime notes. Strange stuff. Flavour is above moderate sweet and light moderate sour. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle shared. Murky brown with small beige bubbly head. Cloves, ginger, allspice, nutmeg, sweet malts, cola, vanilla, soft bourbon, a lot of lime, sweet caramel malts, blueberries. Solid medium sweet, under medium bitter and light sour. Over medium bodied. Quite some mix of spices, but overall really not bad.

Bottle. Lots of rich maltiness, body, sweetness. Toffee, caramelly, even a bit chocolate. Very carefully soured, well incorporated funk, med-light spice intensity. Very good balance, very tasty, very good.

Bottle. Can’t recall where from. Faint haze on a dark plum colour. Super fine halo of off white head. Nose has cake mix. Sour red wine. Touch of cinnamon. Ginger biscuit malt. Taste has a sticky sweetness, alongside some tart, vinous bitterness. Medium body. Fine carbonation. A little slick. Sweet and tart vine fruit on the finish. Ok, albeit a little lacking condition. Having said that, I reckon CW’s barrel program will improve soon enough...

Bottle shared at the Columbus tasting 10/02/2020. From Cloudwater online. A thick chewy caramel brown coloured pour with a reluctant head. Aroma is chewy caramel, woody bourbon, white grape, jammy dried fruit, hint of ginger. Flavour is composed of big chewy toffee, sticky cola cubes, sugared ginger, brown sugars, toffee, cakey malts. Lingering warming bourbon, oak. Palate is medium sweetsticky, oily, mellow carbonation. Hides the abv very well.

Bottle split at L6, thanks to Fergus, 10/02/20. Murky reddish to chestnut brown with nothing in the way of a head. Nose is vinous, tarte dark fruit rinds, funk, dry rot, hint of glue. Taste comprises bitter sweet fruit esters, dates, light balsams, red berry skins, stoned fruits, barnyard notes. Medium plus bodied, fine carbonation, drying close with a kiss of alcohol and a balanced acidic wash. Not bad, masks the alcohol well but no great here.
