330 ml. bottle sampled @ MEUG 2017. Black, creamy tanned head. Nose is grainy mocha ice-cream, lactose, vanilla, sugar sweet, basic but pleasant sweet mocha & cacao. Taste is grainy mocha, lactose, sugar, chocolate, vanilla, cacao, mocha ice-cream. Body is less thick than you would expect, grain, mocha, chocolate, sugar. Decent & far better than most Flying Dutchman beers, nothing very impressive.

Coffee, cocoa and vanilla stout, tasted at Proof in Ghent during their Craft Beer Matinee. Dense, moussy, lacing, stable, yellowish beige head, black robe with translucent mahogany reddish-brown edges. Aroma reveals the added ingredients in a genuine, explicit manner, with actual coffee powder or cappuccino, vanilla and molten black chocolate as the first impressions, later accompanied by hints of cloves, oaky tannins accentuating the added vanilla, dried beef stock, toast, fig. Rounded dried fruit sweetness in the onset, raisin and dried banana, soft carbo, notably creamy, oily mouthfeel, more or less full-bodied and fit for an 8% stout, nutty and very chocolatey malts fill the mouth cavity, with the chocolate aspect accentuated by the cocoa nibs, sweet vanilla in the end is in turn accentuated by a subtle but clearly noticeable vanilla-ish oak flavor with some drying tannins, but not becoming thoroughly dry, instead remaining fairly sweet, caramelly and chocolatey, still balanced out by a dash of peppery hops; the coffee rises up retronasally but not too dominantly so. Very pleasant, rounded, clean, sweet stout, in which none of the added ingredients overpowers the rest; in fact, they are very well integrated in the coffeeish and chocolatey qualities of the malt and the vanilla touch of the oak. Clever beer.

Pours black, big, rather white head’ smell is very roasty, dark malts, some black Chocolate. Taste is full, sweet, Chocolate, very very mild vanille, very Little aspects of coffee. Vanilla builds up in the aftertaste. Roasty. Bit thin ( not extreme ) very Nice carbo. Very mild bitterness, but still prominent. Perhaps a bit to high to drink in volumes, but this is the kind of taste i wanna drink in volumes.

Zwart bier bier met schuim. Smaak is bitter en krachtig, koffie, chocolade en rook overheersen. Verder een lichte fruitige bijsmaak van kersen en vanille. Erg goed, Klasse!
