Bottle picked up from Getränke Haußmann, Feldkirchen and consumed at home, Attenkirchen, Friday 27th December 2019 preparing Base Curry Mix for a Chicken Jalfrezi Curry. Pours clear dark chestnut with an off white head that swiftly departs. Lots of toffee and some lovely boozy warmth, soft carbonation, nice, really good.

Deep dark color. Transparent if you look from above. And a beige head that vanish to fast. Ok intensity in the aroma. Medium + body and a soft carbonation level. Not to sweet as feared. Decent balance. Oily texture and a short ending. Toffee and dried fruits are the two components I get. Not that complex. Still quite easy drinkable for a beer at 9.9. Well masked alcohol.

330ml bottle. Hazy, dark brown colour with late awakening, small, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, beige head. Sweet-ish, papery-woody, malty aroma, notes of raisin, treacle, hints of marzipan, a good deal of alcohol, allusions to lovage. Taste is sweet malty, notes of treacle, hints of raisin, a touch of cardboard; slightly better hidden alcohol. Viscous, sirupy texture, soft and slightly sticky palate. Monotonous, uselessly strong.

Süß malziger, etwas trockener Antrunk. Milde Herbe, steigend würzig, wobei die Süße etwas stört. Harmonisch, unsüffig, weich. 12/9/8/9/9/9

330 ml. bottle. BBF 14.12.2018. Not entirely sure as to what style this beer is supposed to be. Very mild gusher. Pours a dark brown faint wine hue, little tanned head, mostly just some patches & bubbles on the side. Nose is varnish, furniture, overripe dark fruit, leaves, some oxidation, oxidized malts, sweet syrup & indeed vague sherry as promised by the label (I might have misinterpreted the label since I don’t know German). Taste is low licorice, sweet cooked apple malt, bitter leaves, caramel, raisin, sugar, figs, syrup, low umami, gummy bears, low herbs, some oxidation notes, dash of hazelnut,… Sparkling fading carbonation. There seem to be minor issues here, it is a bit messy but the raisin, fig, brown sugar, caramel etc. are not bad, pleasant sweetness. It carries some similarities to a vintage strong Belgian. Intriguing, it is messy & imperfect, there are definitely elements to enjoy here. It isn’t particularly easy to drink. It isn’t an intriguing one and I definitely found things to enjoy here.

Clear dark ruby brown colour, good frothy tan head, mostly diminishing, minimal lacing. Aroma roasted malts, cocoa, licorice, black currants, fortified wine, alcohol. Smooth taste, light heavy sweet, light bitter, roasty, chocolate, fruity, alcohol. Long lasting leading to a sweetbitter roasty finish, chocolate, vinous and spicy notes. Full-bodied, oily texture, soft carbonation, strong but well-balanced, good barley wine.

Bottle looks very good. Beer in the glass quite dark, small head. Alcoholic aroma. Starts very strong, quite malty and quite alcoholic. Some stouty-earthy notes, woody hints. Finish warming-malty, still quite alcoholic. Hmm. Alcoholic notes are too dominating.
