Bottle at home. Aroma is strong roasted malt, coffee, notes of dark chocolate with a hint of dark fruits. Flavour is lightly sweet with a potent and long roasty dry bitter finish. Body is light to medium. A very fine heavily roasty and bitter Stout.

Bottle. Nice. Roasty, burnt, light smoke, little spicy, tiny bit of sweetness there in the background. Nice coffee bitterness. Dry.

330ml bottle. Pours black with a beige head. Aroma: coffee, dark chocolate caramel, prunes, a little smoke. Taste: light to moderate sweet, roasted malts, burnt notes, bitter chocolate, coffee, hint of molasses. Medium body, moderate carb, dry bitter finish. Decent for the ABV

Classically conceived dry stout from this highly acclaimed Derbyshire brewery, older bottle shared by Ama Deke, thanks man! Thick, frothy, creamy, pale yellowish beige head, black robe with hazy mahogany-brown edges. Aroma of burnt walnuts, dried prunes, bitter and unsugared black chocolate, black coffee, mocha ice cream, praliné, leather, sage, dried bitter plant leaves, cigar ashes. Dry, bit sourish onset, very restricted in sweetness, some dried elderberry, softly tingling carb, slick mouthfeel but feeling fuller than its 4% ABV-ish alcohol content. Rounded, deeply nutty and black chocolatey, bit leathery black malt middle with a thin metallic edge to it, very toasty from the start and only becoming increasingly roasted bitter as it goes, with a sharp black coffee-like bitterness in the finish, a tad ashy even, paired with a firm, rooty hop bitterness. Very dry and roasty bitter indeed, showing remarkable 'fullness' for a stout of less than 5% ABV, another testimony of Buxton's great technical capabilities - which I dare say are hardly surpassed in England.

On tap at Craft Room Zagreb. Black coloured, medium sized brownish head, chocolate in the nose. Light roasted malt, caramel, chocolate, notes of cocoa and rather dry mild roasty finish. Quite simple and pleasant stout.

On tap at ZCBW 2017. Pitch black with a big tan head. Coffee and caramel aroma, nice enough. Dry chocolate taste, roasty, bitterish mixing with light milk caramel notes. Damn tasty, fantastically so for the ABV. THIS is a proper light stout, not that crap you find in fake Irish bars everywhere.
