A deep dark imperial stout with a thick frothy lacing mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with light pepper notes, light coffee grind, musty character, nice and smooth. In mouth, a sweet mocha chocolate malt with light vanilla, light powdery character, silky mouth feel, light milk character, coffee grind, alcohol warmth, very nice. Can, about 3 years old.

On tap at Tap & Bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out subdued coffee and medium roasted malt. Flavour is along the same lines, with subdued coffee and medium roasted malt. Surprisingly restrained for an impie. Pleasant but lacking oomph.

Leighton’s flat clearance. Thanks to Mr Smith. Can. Clear amber brown beer, small pale tan head. Palate is smooth and soft and has modest fine carbonation. Soft dark malts, a little dark chocolate. Modest coffee. Light creamy malt sweetness underneath. Smooth semi dry finish. Decent.

Bottle shared at Leightons gaff , 19/09/2016. Many thanks. A reddy chestnut brown coloured pour with a halo of mid tan head. Aroma is big rich smoked roasted coffee, rich dark choc, coffee bean, ash, pepper. Flavour is composed of semi sweet rich coffee bean, pepper, veg, milky roast. Palate is medium sweet rounded, frothy carbonation. Like it a lot.

Can shared in London - picked up in the US. Pours deep brown with a creamy, beige head. Hearty mocha in the nose, milk chocolate, burnt toast. Medium sweet flavour with milky coffee, ashy roast, baking cocoa, burnt marshmallows. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish with more cocoa, milk chocolate, roast, coffee beans. Nice beer.

Can this to LKS. it pours darkest brown with a medium tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, loads of coffee character, coffee, milk chocolate, earth and light toast. The taste is smooth, rich roast, bitter - sweet, coffee grounds, coffee cake, dried fruits, earth and toasty nut with a dry, toasty finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Decent for style.

Can split at Bespin, thanks to Leighton, 19/09/16. Rich mahogany brown topped with a decent tan swirl. Nose is toffee, light charr, coffee tones, brown bread, toasted brown sugars. Taste comprises richer coffee grinds, cocoa rub, tiramisu, brown sugar, roast malt, light peppery spice. Medium + bodied, fine carbonation, strong coffee profile in the close. Decent enough coffee impy.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a very small, perhaps a single centimetre tall off-white head. Aroma of rich chocolate, coffee, malt, earth and way more chocolate - very strong in the nose. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong chocolate and roasted malt flavours with a lot of nuts, earth, caramel and lactose all noticeable with a big rich chocolate finish. Aftertaste shows the smallest amount of nuts around with a bit of roasted malt, but the coffee and rich milk chocolate are always present. Overall, a nice rich beer that seems more like a sweet stout to me on the high alcohol side, but not like an imperial stout at all. Regardless, it’s good and you should try it if you can find it! I sampled this twelve ounce can . purchased from Spec’s Liqour in Dallas, Texas on 11-November-2015 for US$2,52 sampled at home in Washington on 06-September-2016

Santa Fe Imperial Coffee Porter 8% Can from Argonaut in Denver, shared in Suma. A cola brown color with a beige head and a big coffee aroma. Medium bodied with a dry finish. The taste is like a sweet milk coffee, lactose? A solid beer that goes goes down smooth.
