A unique and distinctive beer in the international beerbrewing scene. Sixteen is its ABV, sixteen are the months this beer spends ageing in the wooden barriques. This gives the beer a deep complexity in its flavours, aromas and color. A true barley nectar with an ebony tone, dark and dense, that once in the glass emanates unusual aromas: from vanilla and nutty notes to malted ones, finishing with strong and clear toasted and maderized scents. It has a good minerality and a gentle sweetness

(Bottle) Dark brown colour with brief, foamy head. Something reminiscent of cork residue floating around on the surface. Roasted, vinous, slightly sourish nose with notes of coffee, liquorice, oak wood, a touch of balsamic vinegar, prunes and cherries in brandy. Malty, vinous, slightly tart taste with coffee, tart red berries, liquorice, oak wood, some balsamic vinegar, a touch of port wine, prunes, figs and sour cherries. Full body, but quite smooth and not oily and sticky. A certain sweetness. Interesting and very different. Initially confusing, but seriously growing on me. Vinous, roasty, woody and fairly tart. Great beer!

Flaska från SB. 2015 vintage. Mörkbrun klar vätska med något skräp som flyter runt överst. Fin doft med syrlig mörk frukt. Katrinplommon, körsbär, plommon, balsamvinäger, lite tanniner, ingefära. Som ett syrligt portvin. Mycket väl dold alkohol. På gränsen till saftig. Mycket gott.

Smak och doft av fat, balsamvinäger, ingefära, nejlika, katrinplommon, körsbär, mörk torkad frukt, vinös ton. Bäst före 2015 så minst 4 år gammal. Bra balans, lagom sötma, fina toner i bra komposition.

330 ml bottle. Pours a dark brown with no head. Aromas of vinous oak, nutty chocolate, and sweet toasted malts. Flavors follow same with an emphasis on vinous wood. Very little indication of the ABV. Maybe a lingering warm mouthfeel.

Bottle 33 cl. Black with a minimal head. A cherry, berries caramel and sweet malt and wooden sense. Sweet taste with some sour sense. Oily texture, berries end. Like! Bottled 06.2016.

Dark brown caramel-ruby pour with no heah. Notes of caramel, brett bitterness, brett funk, champagne yeast, cherry cores. The alcohol is almost non-perceptible, feels more like 6%. Damn good!

Bottle sample @ Osteria Del Borgo, Roma, courtesy of the bar manager. Brune sur ambre, pas de col. Arôme de funk, levure sauvage avec petit côté champenois, rétro de réglisse, caramel, brett? + léger côté fruits noirs. Palais de levure champenoise tirant sur un léger funk et petite sécheresse. Malt caramel, qcq éléments aigre fruité noir, barrique et boisé rappelant un peu l'effet de BA en fût de Chardonnay. Approche un peu unique sur un barley wine. Reste plaisant et complexe.

Grainy sweetish nose. The beer starts sweetish and intense. Malty caramel, plums, cherries. Sweetish aftertaste with a nice caramel fruity sweetish finish.
