Beret is as artistic as those who wear its namesake cap. Our brewers developed a silky, full-bodied wheat ale which we began fermenting with our house yeast strain. To finish the fermentation, we added our collection of barnyard bacteria, intended to slowly sour the ale, bringing out a slight funk and refreshing piquancy. Finally, a small dose of pureed raspberries were added for just a hint of fruity tannins, putting the berry in Beret.

Pours clear blonde, small white head. Smell is lactic tartness, bit oak, very mild fruityness. Taste is starting strongly tart. Very mild fruityness, ( red fruits. Should be raspberry. But can't be identified as such. Sharp, rather dry. Decent mouthfeel, médium Carbo. Nice. I would have loved a lightly less sourness and a bit more ( recognizable) fruit myself.

Hervoragendes Ale!

Draught at BeerGeek Bar. Lightly cloudy, gold colored. AROMA- a bit wild, fruity, touch of raspberries, floral, pleasant alcohol. FLAVOR- slightly sweet, slightly sour, peach and apricot, meadow herbs, wild, sour berries. Fuller bodied.
Great.

Draught at the Alibi Room, Vancouver, described as "Wild fermented sour wheat wine with raspberries" and listed at 14.2% ABV (possibly a mistake)
Hazy, dull amber colour. Mild vinous notes, but also very light acetic; if it's 14%, the alcohol doesn't show that much; lack of malt flavour, malt depth; mild acidity, it has some berry tartness and fruitiness.
It may be difficult to pull a beer this big without big flaws, but it tastes like a random fruit beer from mediocre local breweries.
Expensive and arrogant.
