Imperial Stout Aged in Bourbon Barrels

With Bruery culture comes tradition, and Black Tuesday Reserve is back for another delectably rare release. Brewed in 2018, this iteration of our iconic imperial stout was aged in two separate sets of hand-chosen bourbon barrels for two consecutive years, emerging a uniquely-developed and sophisticatedly bold stout worthy of the classification ‘Reserve.’

Pours black, no real head. Smell is boozy, bourbon, mildly sweet-like roastyness. Taste is full, intense, boozy, heat, sweet, chocolate, bourbon. Not bad at all ( I'm a fan of the series, unlike many in Belgium ) but yes, perhaps a bit too boozy.

2018 Bottle shared at DACBE New Year's share. Pours a pitch black with a small brown head that dissipates. Big booze forward nose with dark chocolate, cacao nib and oak on display. Very boozy on the palate with lots of chocolate and alcohol notes. Not really much going on besides booze and chocolate.

From a bottle at the Dec 7 RB gathering in McLean VA courtesy of gendv. Pour a clear dark cola with a tan head. Aromas of chocolate and vanilla. Moderately sweet dark fudge flavors with a hot and boozy finish.

Bottle shared by Eric @ Warpigs. Thanks dude! Pours oily greasy muddy brown/grey. Literally one of the ugliest beers I’ve ever seen hah. The beer though... fudgey, butterscotch, sweet malt, caramel, sugar, chocolate, dark fruits, vanilla, subtle alcohol warmth.

WeWork tasting (20.01.2019). Pours good dark brown, no real foam but just a few brown bubbles. Nose is full of dark dried fruits, dark plums, dark cherries and some whisky character. Tastes heavy, sweet and kind of sticky. Liquid chocolate booze, warmth is coming out in the finish, booze is there but otherwise surprisingly easy to drink. Dangerous for sure. Sneaky and balanced. Spirit barrel is strong. Awesome.

2015 bottle. This beer pours pitch black with a medium thick tan head that diminishes gradually to a film. Patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of bourbon, chocolate, vanilla and malt. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky bourbon, vanilla, fudge and roasted malt. The finish is boozy with a lingering bourbon and chocolate malt aftertaste. Very good beer all around.

Dark brown color. Flat. Just overwhelming boozy, with just some bourbon, dark chocolate, macaroons in the nose. The booze just dominates. The mouth is much nicer with tons of vanilla, coconut, brownies, bourbon and moderately aggressive bitterness.. over the top but it’s what I expected. The mouth is way better than the nose. Boozy finish. Very big. Wow. Glad we are sharing a bottle with 11 people.
