Belgian-style witbier brewed in the Savoie. Coarse, stable, off-white head, cloudy ochre blonde colour with quiet sparkling. Strong sweet fruitiness, agreeably perfumed, smelling of fried apples, apricot, strawberry, yoghurt, cinnamon, coriander, rosewater and orange peel. Round palate, mineral-like with relatively strong carbonation, very fruity, apple, orange, mildly spicy, bit powdery mouthfeel as if starch has been added to make it cloudy (which is probably the case too) but then a slight disappointment in the finish, which is rather watery with only a very faint and brief, late hop touch. Nevertheless a refreshing example of the style.

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, pale golden colour with a diminishing frothy white head. Citrus-fruity, wheaty and yeasty aroma with of oranges, spicy notes of coriander and vanilla. Mildly sweet flavour, light to medium bodied with a rather soft carbonation. Moderately wheaty and slightly grainy taste with discreetly fruity notes and a present touch of coriander; sweet-bitter spicy and wheaty finish with coriander and hops. A decent Wit. 12.X.11

Bottle: Hazy, no head to speak of, citrussy-orangey nose, wheat and coriander and vanilla underneath; pretty light bodied, light to moderate sweetish-sourish flavour; delicate orangey-wheaty finish (+ coriander). Thin, but refreshing.....

Bottle at ChrisO’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2011. Pours a very pale yellow with a fine, white head. Sugar and some dough in the aroma. Very sweet flavor with perhaps some aged malts. Light bodied with average carbonation. Faint yeast and dough. A bit too sweet.

Muffiger und fehlerhaft wirkender Hefegeruch. Etwas getreidig. Modriger, etwas herber Antrunk, faulig wirkend. Keine Frische, keine Kräuternoten, wässrig werdend - fehlerhaft! Einfach nur schlecht! 11/3/4/3/5/3

bottle from Auchan Illkirch-Graffenstaden. Hazy very pale yellow, large white head. Lovely spicy nose - wheat, coriander, orange peel. Light-bodied, malty base, wheaty, spicy with cardamom, coriander, clove, orange zest..... Smooth palate, not as over-carbonated as many witbiers - a pleasant experience - the first taste of summer in early spring.
