The Oak Aged Batch 21 has a dark brown mahogany colour and a beige brown head. The soft aroma immediately reminds you of walnuts. Accompanied by a slightly smoky aroma, you can detect oak, caramel malt, alcohol, vanilla and, of course, French brandy. The flavour, although balanced, is not particularly mellow. The brandy barrels have clearly left a lot of wood influences, which manifest themselves in vanilla and almond. Additionally, the Quadrupel has a caramel-like, slightly sweet flavour with a good, full body. The flavour ends with a slightly burnt tone and a hint of wood tannin. Due to the light tingling of the carbonic acid, combined with the wood flavour and sweetness of the beer, the sensation in the mouth is full and pleasant.
Its fine bouquet is best savoured when this batch is served at a temperature of 16-18 °C (61 –64.5 °F).

Obviously aged sample Brown beer with a yellowish rim for a few seconds. Alcohol, fusels, nutcake, walnuts, portwine, Madeira. Woody flavour, incense, felt, green walnuts, nocciola, oxydized brandy. Warming up getting a tad soupy. Bit thinning due to the aging, not really full bodied any longer, but the carbonation is still OK. Alcoholwarming. Not the worst of the Quadrupels, and it withstood the aging pretty well. Thanks to Stef!

375ml corked and caged bottle. Pours a murky red-brown with floaties and a small, creamy, short lived, beige head that leaves spotty lacing. Sweet aroma of bready caramel malt, raisin, plum, date, brown sugar, brandy and oak. Sweet flavour of toasted caramel malt, brown sugar, toffee, prune, date, plum, raisin, vanilla and oak in a dry, brandy warming finish. Full body with a smooth, chewy, oily texture and soft carbonation. Complex, well balanced and not too sweet. Excellent.

Cloudy dark amber colour. Nice aroma, malt, then it goes deeper, a bit earthy, some spirit. Sweet, good body strength, a bit of malt flavour and caramel, hint of toffee, and quite strong spirit.
Good, not too complex, but at least not too estery.

Light haze on this deep amber beer, good pale tan head. Light palate, smooth and semi dry, reasonable fine carbonation. Smooth malts, a little soft, light creamy sweetness. Whisper of caramel. Lots of those La Trappe esters, soft and well integrated. Very light vanilla wood. Whisper of spice. Light sweet brandy soaked dried fruits on the back end. Semi dry finish. Very smooth and very well integrated. Slips down easy.
