Bourbon barrel version in a bottle at the mondiale 2014. Dark, murky brown pour, big beige head. Huge oaky aroma, lots of brown sugar, and earthy wood. The bouron makes a small presence in the way of a spicy sweetness. The malts are super sweet, and caramelly. The body is thick and luscious, and the carb is very soft. The beer is overall quite sweet, and earthy. Low bitter finish, loads of bready sweet malts, lots of almost burnt brown suagr, and some roasty malts. This is a big beer, mloats going on very complex, a great example of how a barrel beer should taste,

330mL bottle On tap at Santa Therezinha, pours a deep dark amber mahogany with a huge beige head. Aroma reveals plenty of caramel, bready malt, and some dark dried fruits. Flavour is very malty, with plenty of toasted caramel, bready malt, and some dried fruits. The carbonation is higher than it should be, but not too detractingly so. Decent scotch ale.

Bottle thnx to Marlos. Guess I’m just a bit slower with opening new beers than my friends 77Ships and Sebletitje, huh? Anyway. Pours rather unclear, Very dark copperbrown. Small, creamy head fades rather fast. Smell is bitter, boozy, yeasty. Taste is sharp, and indeed has metallic notes, over a very nice nutty, earthy, even chocolaty background. Good mouthfeel and carbo, rather easy drinking. I agree with the beer entering too ’sharp’ and metallic, but I do enjoy the layers beneath that aspect. Not bad !

Bouteille 50cl, via tarde, thanks Marlos. lot# L017, BB 03/2016.

ChrisOs Easter Tasting. Cheers Scopey for sharing this rarity. Clear dark amber beer. Good pale tan - cream head. Palate is smooth, semi dry and has fine carbonation. Good caramel - toffee malt with some lacto. Sweet! Finishes dry with mildly bitter dried fruits. Hides the alcohol well.

Bottle (purchased at Delirium Rio), consumed at Chriso’s Easter tasting 2012. It pours deep amber, with a decent beige head. The nose is toffee, hot cross bun, caramel, Horlicks and beef jerky. The taste is cola, toffee, plum, prune, grape, chocolate, spice, sugar and caramel, with a dry, fruity finish. Alcohol is well hidden. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Not bad, but perhaps a bit too sweet.
