Originally rated March 2006. Sampled at Vineyard in Ottawa, Ontario. Best before date is 16-01-06. Pours a clear red-pink-orange colour with a small fizzy white head. The lacing is thin and also fizzy, found in spots here and there. Candy nose of blackcurrant with a side that is medicinal. Watery mouthfeel. Starts off like a good tasting cough syrup, then goes to a sour finish. Some metallic flavour is found in the aftertaste, like rust and blood... or maybe just bad water. It does eventually go away. Not as bad as that sounded. The cassis aroma and taste are very nice and pleasant, well mixed, for a good fruit beer.

Early amateur rating warning! Slight watery fruit beer, not as much fruit flavour as I would like. Dusty undertone.

A clear brown beer with no head. Meaty cassis fruit aroma, leather, and cough drops. In mouth, a very sweet cassis, with lactic notes, light effervescence remaining. Bottle is BB 09 1999, so made in around 1989! Surprising and overall, nice. Old Stock Tasting June 2008.

Bottled (BBE 2007), not sure how long this has been in my coldcellar. Deep rubyreddish colour with small off-white head. Aroma is lots of black currants and other dark berries with some mild sourness to it. Flavour is quite much the same with some slight artificial notes as well as also blueberries.

(Bottle 25 cl) Reddish blue beer with a small, bubbly head. Very fresh nose with lots of black currant, and the berries shine through all of this beer. The acidity from the berries adds to the lambic’s tartness making this a rather sour beer - althoough with some added sugar. 180999

Bottle. Sour and musty black currant aroma. Reddish -dark purple color with small head. Initial tartness followed by a sweet black currant flavor. Full bodied. Very nice - not as sweet as Lindemans but still more than traditional.
