Sampled draft @ brewpub. Hazy golden, thin solid white head. Nose is vegetable but not extremely so, sweet cooked corn, light DMS, white sugar & BE yeast. Taste is cooked apple, creamy corn, white bread, white sugar, light DMS in the back,… Oily apple, bland, okay but maybe once people will learn that pilsners do not need taste of cooked cabbage, just very maybe.

Draft. Golden color. Grainy aroma, with a little malt. Fresh bitter taste of grain and pale malt. Some mild hops. Not bad, just a pilsner.

Only available at Domus in Leuven, an unfiltered Pilsener and in that sense not very different from a Kellerbier, but hoppier. Light hazy golden blonde with fluffy snow white head; appetizing character of pure, clean, crisp and fresh pale malts, bit bready, soft carbo, fuller mouthfeel than usual. Finishes in a long, thirst-quenching, floral and spicy hoppiness. Les extrèmes se touchent: this, one of Belgium’s best (or only good) lagers, is made in the same city as Stella Artois. The contrast could not be bigger. One of my favorite Belgian ’pilsjes’ (or, in fact, almost the only one I truly enjoy), too bad this isn’t more widely available.

On tap at Domus. Slightly hazy golden colour, white head. Aroma of lemon, spelt, hint of lemony tartness, pale malts, light sulphur. Flavour is light tart lemon, floral, pale malts, refreshing, nice firm grass and citrus bitter finish. Light-bodied. Highly quaffable stuff.

Pale blond colour. Thin and watery texture. Quite bland, leaves a light bitterness behind.

Little cloudy blond beer, very solid creamy head, stable, adhesive with nice lacing. Aroma: peppery, bit dusty, some hops, citrus. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: bitter hops, grains, very little bit of sweet malts, bit fruity even. Aftertaste: bitter hops, little metallic, chemical bitterness.

Draught at the brewpub. Poured a clear golden body with a thick chalky white head that went away slowly. Herbal-vegetabley, slightly acidic, slightly malty nose. Light grainy nose, dry hop finish. Not much better than the Stella I’d had 10 minutes before it. Eh.

Tap at Domus. Slightly hazy golden color, large white head, good lacing. Aroma of malt, licorice, black pepper. Taste is bitter hops, especially in the finish. Decent example of the style.
