12 ounce can from Tavour. Hazy pale gold color. Fluffy white head. Nice lacing. Fragrant aroma of white grape and passion fruit on a biscuit malt base. Flavor mirrors nose. Added notes of lemon, lime and pineapple. Sharp citrus is the order of the day here. Dry and bitter on the backend. Very nice.

My first rye IPA, might as well be top of the list. A 12 oz can coming from the city’s only craft beer store. I have chilled a thick beer glass for this one. 98 degrees currently, seems appropriate. The delivery is a semi-transparent yellow-gold and some white, floating particulate topped by a frosty head of alpine white foam. I smell pine, grass and good possibilities. I have a drink, well, it all comes together. Cedar, pine needles, yellow fruit, some earthiness, bread, a just-right sweetness and a moderate bitterness concluding. Rather tasty and likewise refreshing in my current circumstance. A total throwback, thank God they still are around.

Can from Bottle Baron. Hazy golden body with a few flecks floating beneath a white head. Lively carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of earth, mango and black pepper. Flavour of orange, honey and grapefruit. Medium body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. Bright and tongue-tinglingly hoppy. The rye is expertly used and lends a nice spicy, biscuity edge, especially on the aroma.

disclaimer: normally don't buy canned/bottled ipas that get imported if i don't know how fresh they are, but i was curios about this one. If you don't put a bottling or a best before date anywhere you'll get a rating even if it's not fresh enough. Pours a quite unattractive murky/milky golden, with a good sized pillowy white head, that shows quite good retention and nice lacing. The aroma is rather fresh/vivid, but not very polished: there's a bit of sweet malty base (white bread), overcome by resinous/piney freshness, with tangerine and lighter mango notes. Taste has a rather strong per style sweet malty base, and a softer per style feel. There's still significant bitterness/hoppiness though. As for the aroma, rather fresh but not very defined/polished. Notes of mango (now more prominent than in the aroma), tangerine, pine, light ryeish spiciness. Plus, a not exactly pleasant hint of some wet/sweaty kind of feel, altough really just a hint. Medium body, with medium to high (but rather soft-bubbled) carbonation, resulting in a smoother than usual mouthfeel. The beer was overall smooth, super easily drinkable and quite refreshing, but unimpressive in terms of depth and not perfectly polished.
