Crianza belongs to the family of Flemish Red-Brown ales. Born out of a mixed fermentation, it spent more than a year in oak barrels.
Its body has copper reflections and its aspect is limpid. Its foam is beige and creamy, with a nice hold. It smells like fallen apples, Northern cherries, with a woody and winey accent, and the slightly animal touch given by the Brettanomyces yeast.
In the mouth, these flavours are completed by notes of Agen plums, blackberries, spices (cinnamon, cloves, liquorice), and a very lightly caramelised touch of malt and biscuit. Its mineral and slightly sour character makes it surprisingly refreshing.
7,4% abv (hardly perceptible), for the first time available in 33cl bottles only, and in limited amounts.
In all modesty, Crianza III is likely to be the best cuvée we brewed so far!

Bottiglia.

Bottle from Drankenhandel Leiden. Aroma is oak, tart ripe fruits, some funk, malt, grapes, soft caramel, vinous, grain, more wood, apricot. Flavour is tart and medium sour with a mildly dry finish. Body is medium. Very rounded, a lot going on. Very solid Sour, good balance and texture, moreish. Gets increasingly delicious, the last sip makes me wish I had a large bottle of this.

330 ml bottle from Etre Gourmet, bottled 23 Jan 19. Amber-red, medium hazy body, with a big, creamy, lacing, beige head. Aroma of Brett, dried fruits, moderate leather, wood, sherry, vanilla, some caramel. Tastes similar, while fruitier. Medium, a bit oily mouthfeel, with an average carbonation. Finishes smooth, moderate sweet, slightly sour, wooden, fruity, a bit vinous, with moderate Brett, green apple, some vanilla, slight cocoa. Tasty. So smooth and balanced, very quaffable for the ABV, while also really complex. Lovely mix of barrel, Brett and fruits. Very interesting style example! Score: 8 / 4 / 8 / 4 / 16

Amazing balance! Cookie malts, funky winelike fruit, light vanilla oak and a clean balanced acidity.

Lichtbruin bier met schuim wat snel wegzakt. Smaak is fris lichtzuur en fruitig met iets van rode bessen en een vleugje appel. Best goed.

Copper colour with lasting head. Aroma and flavour have sharp funk like a Ridenbach but more subtle. Red wine and port sweetness in the background. Pleasantly tart and fruity. Excellently balanced.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up online. Pours clear reddish gold with a big, foamy off-white head. Gorgeous beer, incredibly well balanced, some mild acetic acid, nips of tart berries, vinegar, touches of salt, damp wood. Light bodied with airy, massaging carbonation. Quenching finish, more tart berries, red grape, hints of toasted sugar, more acetic twang, salt, cherry. Wonderful.
