Tap at Craft Heads. Pretty sweet, lots of cherry, minimal Dubbel character, bit nutty. Fruit. Bit uninteresting.

750ml bottle. Cloudy, amber-ish brown colour with small, dense, micropore, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Slightly perfumed, fruity and spicy aroma, a conglomeration of ginger, mandarine, orange, Szechuan pepper, pink peppercorn and cherry notes, minimally roasty, dark malty background, hints of raisin, a touch of chocolate and plum. Taste is slightly sweet dark malty, fruity and minimally perfumed spicy, hints of ginger, orange, mandarine, Szechuan pepper, pink peppercorn, chocolately undertones, a touch of raisin, plum and cherry. Solid Dubbel with interesting Asian twist.

Very aromatic, floral, peppery. Flavour is less intense but still very floral. Also a sweet fruitiness. Thin body. Interesting and not awful.

American craft dubbel with an experimental touch. Lacing, light yellowish beige head, ruby bronze colour, hazy. Aroma reveals an aniseed-like quality (rather than Szichuan pepper), caramel, brown bread, hazelnuts, dried banana, apricot. Clean fruitiness, sourish touch, bubblegum accent, resiny and somewhat ’woody’ mouthfeel due to the spice, which evolves to full glory in the finish, drying, and still more aniseed-like than Szichuan pepper-like. Interesting, but perhaps a bit too spicy for my personal taste.

Sample @ 6de Gents Bierfestival 2015. Cuivrée-brune, col fin beige.
