On its classical Quadrupel base, we add an extra layer of ingredients to achieve the winter twist. No spices were added in the boiling stage. Instead, orange zest and vanilla pods were added after fermentation, in cold conditioning tanks, one week before bottling.
Malt: pils, munich, special b, chocolate. Hops: Goldings, Saaz. Other: vanilla pods, orange zest, dark candy sugar. Yeast: Belgian abbey.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - bottled on 12.05.2020, at Pikkulintu Kontula, 20230902) The beer poured brown and rather cloudy. Its head was small, bubbly and white. Aroma had raisins, prunes, Belgian style yeast and vanilla. Palate was medium bodied and dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were toasted malts, raisins, prunes, fruitiness, Belgian style yeast, vanilla, chocolate and bitterness. Aftertaste had toasted malts, chocolate and bitterness. The beer showed nice ageing characters. The adjuncts were unnecessary extra.

Bouteille 33cl, BB22/10/21, lot# TR/016-019.
Brune foncée voire acajou, col épais crémeux blanc-casé.
Arôme est fin malté, caramel, chocolaté avec un bouquet chocolat au lait qui se trouve de suite sublimé par un fruité rappelant les orangettes chocolat sur une pointe plus hivernale. Rétro un peu biscuité, grillé, burnt caramel.
Palais est bien malté caramel, chocolaté petite douceur de vanille avec un côté fruité sec qui se mélange à une note d'amertume un peu verte-citronnée.
Le côté alcool reste plaisant sans jamais devenir surfait. Amertume perdure en fin de bouche plutôt sur le noble européen. Petite douceur latente en fin de bouche qui oscille entre vanille et une pointe amertume houblonnée.

Bottle from Dranken Vandewoude and drunk on a campsite with Nelson. Black beer lasting tan head Malty aroma. a big of something else too sour alcohol. not great aroma malty in the mouth. like raisins. some chocolate is ok but there is a sour burnt raisin aroma and flavour that is not great. poor quad

330ml bottle. Opaque, mahogany colour with small, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, dark beige head. Sweet-ish, sugary, dark malty and fruity aroma, notes of dried fruit, notes of dried fruit, raisin, some milk chocolate, rock sugar, orange, orange zest, a touch of white pepper, liquorice. Taste is sweet-ish, minimally sugary, dark malty, zesty, citrusy, notes of dried fruit, raisin, hints of milk chocolate, rock sugar, a touch of orange, orange zest, vanilla, liquorice, some alcohol, bitter hoppy counterpart. Seemingly relatively light and in fact relatively drinkable due to the above-average hop bitterness. Not fully convincing.

Bière d'hiver, cette quadruple de la brasserie Syphon intégrant vanille et orange, si elle m'a réchauffée m'a quelque peu troublé avec des arômes fumés arrivant sur le final, pas du tout adéquats et laissant une touche dissonante en bouche. Le sucré aurait également mérité d'être restreint pour mettre davantage l'accent sur l'alcool, à 10 %, bien en place et structurant bien la quadruple, (quoiqu’un peu faiblard sur le final) et pour lui donner davantage de puissance. Le visuel est honnête avec un brun soutenu (EBC de 68), sans mousse. Le nez est sur le caramel, le candy, un alcool affirmé, l'orange et la poire et plus généralement de fruits confits. La nille est subtile, tellement qu'il est compliqué de la déceler. Cela restera vrai à la dégustation qui débute par une attaque ronde, où l'on retrouve les arômes présents au nez avec quelques épices (provenant du houblonnage en saaz et goldings, avec un IBU de 50, bien jaugé). Belle présence en seconde bouche, avec un alcool qui de plus s'affirme sans dénoter, donnant une belle expression de quad. L'arrière, stable, est d'une bonne tension sur l'alcool, pleine et un peu plus épicée. L'alcool faiblit tout de même quelque peu sur le final, qui est long pour autant, mais sur lequel arrive des arômes de fumé, incompréhensibles, pas du tout dans l'histoire de cette quad et qui nous laisse sur une mauvaise note. Il aurait fallu tronquer cette Tronk à la deuxième bouche.

Bottle. Dark brown color. Caramel, vanilla and a hint of orange peel in the aroma. Malty sweet, alcoholic flavor with caramel, vanilla. Soft yeasty notes. Not very impressive.

Another beer delivered from Belgium, I am pleased to have a taste. Vanilla Orange Quad it says on the label, interesting. I have the 33 cl bottle opened and going into my ABGB glass. The pour is a an amber-brown followed by a quickly receding eggshell brown head, decent carbonation however. The smell is all right, ripe fruit and biscuit. Oh now, the taste is a jump up from there. Figs, orange peel perhaps, cane syrup, wheat bread and cough drop. Curious. It has a nice burn, very full in the mouth. Why am I thinking of malt liquor? Better than expected, different for a quad, I would like to find this again.

Flaska från Beergium. Mahognyfärgad vätska med medelhögt beige skum. Klibbig vätska. Fin doft med syltade apelsinskal, välmogen banan, russin, torkade päron, sötlakrits, chokladpralin. Smak som doften men också lite pepprig. Gott
