"Can you fill these empty barrels with something fun?" That was the challenge Kjetil presented me with over a coffee a stormy Tuesday morning in October."How about something strong and dark?" I wondered. "25% dark malts, 30% rye, 28 degres Plato."That’ll never work." said Kjetil. 1 kilo malts/L, 48 hours of brewing and 2 years on old Armanac barrels later, I feel free to say: "Well, wouldn’t you know... it worked".

Sample at Bergen Ølfestival 2014. Black with a minimal tan head. Thick with roasted malt, coffee, some licorice, wood, chocolate and cognac. Swweetish with a long finish. Also some alcohol. "Easy" to drink with not much carbonation. A perfect one to sip.

Sample from cask at Grünerløkka Mat og mikrobryggfestival. Aroma of roasted malty with nice herbal influence, dark, bitter chocolate, very dark fruits and berries, hints of coffee and licorice and alcohol. Sweet, smooth, flavourful and delicious. Silky smooth and dangerously drinkable. Soft carbonation, mild bitterness, herbal finish. Lovely stuff.
